Chapter Text
“Do you regret what you’ve done?”
Shadow's voice is full of contempt; he grips his gun in his hand as he points it downwards, his finger on the trigger.
The cool night breeze sways Shadow's quills, ruffling some of the bandages on his body. He glares at a person on the ground with hateful eyes.
Fire and smoke cast an orange glow over Central City. Sirens wail as firefighters scramble to control the flames. Above it all, the full moon shines brilliantly, appearing larger than ever.
“No...my life was amazing... I’d happily do it again... exactly the same…” The person on the ground answers with a raspy and low voice; a faint smile forms across his face as he closes his eyes.
*BANG*
One week after getting back from Starfall Island, Tails asks Sonic and Amy for help moving his new research to his workshop in Central City. They spent almost the entire day moving boxes together.
“Finally, we’re done moving all this sciencey stuff” Sonic and Amy both walk out of the garage towards the living room.
“Beats having to deal with the restoration army’s paperwork” Amy chuckles, her eyes sparkle with joy as she looks at Sonic.
“Last one…!” Tails walks in the room carrying a small box, as Sonic notices he’s struggling a bit he hurries to help.
“Let me get that one for you pal” Sonic picks the box up and takes it with the rest, Amy looks at him seemingly having something to say.
“So, I was wondering... Do you guys want to check out the new café that opened recently?” Amy asks, Sonic’s ears perk up and his face lights up.
“Heck yeah! I’m starving!” Sonic agrees without a second thought; he looks at Tails expecting him to agree too.
“Aw, sorry Amy I’m this close to cracking Eggman’s encrypted files, maybe some other day” Tails declines the offer politely.
“Bummer... I’ll get you a Snack or something then dude” Sonic nonchalantly heads towards the door.
“Well, we should get going then, it’s getting kinda’ late” Amy waves goodbye to Tails and heads out.
“Thanks for the help, you guys!” Tails waves goodbye and closes the door.
Amy skips over and catches up to Sonic, looks him in the eye and smiles widely, Sonic smiles back shyly and averts his eyes.
They make their way to the cafe while chatting, since the cafe is at a walking distance they don’t feel the need to rush.
“You know, I really didn’t get the chance to thank you properly for the thing back at Starfall Island” Sonic says out of the blue.
“It was everyone’s choice to believe in you, and you managed just fine, there’s no need to thank us Sonic” Amy affirms, they keep walking, passing next to a small park Sonic notices a young couple holding hands while they eat some ice cream on a bench.
Sonic glances at Amy’s hand, for some reason he starts to feel the need to grab it, but he brushes off the feeling quickly as they cross the street.
They keep walking for a few more minutes and eventually they arrive at a small white and brown building on the corner of the street, the outside adorned with neon signs of coffee and beans next to the huge windows, a welcome mat placed in front of the door makes the whole place a lot more inviting and right on top of the entrance the name of the place “Montblanc” is displayed in gold letters.
“After you madam” Sonic, with an exaggerated gentlemanly accent, says as he holds open the door and bows at Amy making her giggle, she bows back and both of them walk inside.
The cafe looks between antique and modern, with professional looking brewing machines behind the counter and old looking coffee grinders right next to them, they scan the place looking for a place to sit, on one corner of the room they see a large table with a couch instead of chairs clearly meant for a larger group of people, they decide to go for a small table on the other end of the room, the counter long enough to make a kind of separation between these two sections but not enough to impair movement or visibility.
They sit at the furthermost table across from each other, and a waiter hands them the menu.
“So, where’d you hear about this place?” Asks Sonic while reading the dessert section of the menu.
“Jewel told me about it, she looked pretty excited too, she kept talking about how good the salad was” Amy responds as she places her menu down, seemingly having already decided what she’ll order.
“I’m really liking this place... looks pretty chill... love the atmosphere” Sonic says as he looks around, the smell of coffee, the not too bright lights inside the place and the elegant decoration creates a cozy atmosphere.
“Right?!... I’m happy we could come here, it’s been a while since we spent time like this...” Amy looks at Sonic with a soft stare, he looks deep into her eyes and his heart starts to race.
Sonic tries to suppress his embarrassment, looking out the window to hide his blushing face.
A thought suddenly pops into his mind. It’s one that comes back from deep inside him now and then. A thought that for some reason terrifies him.
He might be in love.
The waiter arrives to take their order, just in time, he thinks.
“I’ll have the caramel cappuccino and the Soleanna princess special” Amy asks the waiter politely.
“I’ll have a slice of your special apple pie please, and a chocolate smoothie!” Says Sonic, trying to maintain his cool demeanor, Amy’s eyes widen a bit in surprise.
“Right away!” exclaims the waiter, they take notes of their order, pick up their menus and head back to the kitchen.
“Wow! I’m surprised you didn’t order a bunch of chili dogs!... especially because this is your first time here, I’d assume you’d want to try that first!” Amy says playfully teasing him by acting shocked.
“Hey! Chili dogs ARE my favorite but I don’t always eat them...I like to try something new from time to time... Also, the picture of the pie looked good...” Sonic chuckles.
“Hey, I need to go touch up my makeup, I’ll be right back” says Amy excusing herself.
“Kay” Sonic answers casually, Amy then heads towards the restroom, she holds a small purse in her hands Sonic never noticed she brought, does she just pull things out of thin air, like her hammer? Sonic wonders for a bit before letting the thought go.
A couple of minutes go by, Sonic is passing the time fidgeting with a toothpick and looking outside the window, when he notices on the corner of his eye a blond-haired bear girl heading in his direction, her light brown fur is almost the same tone as the coffee cups the waiter is pouring behind the counter, she approaches, step after step in a sort of way that might be considered seductive.
“HEY! You’re that popular hero everyone talks about!” The girl sits down in front of Sonic without asking.
Sonic glances at the girl for a second, not recognizing her he looks out the window again uninterested.
“Not really, I’m just a guy” Sonic, still looking outside, dismisses her approach.
“Well guy, it must be pretty fun to travel around visiting all sorts of places, I heard you’ve even been to outer space... It must’ve been really exciting!” She tries her best to get his attention, playing with her hair a bit and fluttering her eyelashes.
Sonic looks at her, the mention of his past adventures ignites his attention for a bit.
“If you consider the potential end of the world as exciting then sure!” Sonic smirks.
“I don’t mind the danger if it means I can hang out with someone as cool as you... not to mention handsome... I’d love to see that kind of awesomeness up close” The girl leans over a bit.
“By the way, my name’s Angie, but you can call me any time” Angie shakes Sonic’s hand and winks at him.
“Speaking of, why don’t you give me your number so we-” The girl stops mid-sentence as she sees Amy approaching.
“A friend of yours?” Asks Amy with a soft and sincere smile across her face, Sonic starts feeling nervous, as if he did something wrong.
“Oh, I didn’t realize you had company, I’ll leave you two alone... see you later Sonic!” Angie waves goodbye and winks at him, she gets up and goes back to her friends.
“Hey Amy!... Food’s sure taking a while huh?” Says Sonic, somewhat flustered and worried that Amy is angry that he was talking to another girl.
“A little bit, yeah, but I bet it’ll be worth it! After all, I trust Jewel’s taste in fine dining” Amy says while laughing.
Sonic thinks to himself that it’s strange that she didn’t even react strongly to a girl talking to him.
“Heh... yeah” Sonic is unsure of what to think, he feels as if he somehow messed up.
“So, what were you two talking about?” Amy inquires.
“Oh, nothing special... She was just curious about the many places I’ve been to” Sonic responds quickly.
“I see... Did you tell her about the times you’ve been to space?” Amy teases and both of them laugh, a few raindrops slide down the window as rain clouds start to form making the city a lot darker, the lights on the street starting to turn on, one by one they light up the city.
The waiter arrives with their order minutes later, they place their food on the table neatly and they both thank him, Sonic immediately starts eating as the sweet smell of the apple pie hypnotizes him.
“Seriously Sonic, eating dessert instead of actual food is so typical of you” Amy smiles.
“It has apples, it HAS to be healthy right? Here try some” Sonic smirks and grabs a bit of pie with his fork, he feeds Amy carefully and she happily eats the slice of pie.
“It’s really good!” Amy is taken by surprise by the sweetness of the pie; She unconsciously places one hand on her cheek and smiles.
“See, something as good as this can’t possibly be bad for you” Sonic laughs, trying to ignore how his heart is racing, beating a million times a second; looking at Amy only makes it worse somehow. Amy notices Sonic acting a little weird but decides not to pry.
After they both finish their food and pay the bill, they notice the time and decide to call it a day.
“That was lovely, thank you for coming with me today” Amy thanks Sonic for the lovely evening, both of them walking out of the place, Sonic glances at the table with the large sofa on their way out and notices a group of friends hanging out, he recognizes the girl that approached him, her eyes fixed on the menu with a blank stare.
“Anytime Amy!” says Sonic, he turns to look at Amy with a smile.
“I’ll head home then, see you-” Just as Amy is about to start walking when Sonic interrupts.
“Wanna walk home together?... I mean it’s pretty late” Sonic points out the lack of sunlight, Amy is surprised but nods and agrees.
“Sure” Amy starts to feel butterflies in her stomach. It’s pretty late, of course he’d offer to walk her home, it doesn’t mean anything, she thinks. A part of her wants to believe there’s more to it.
The two walk in silence for a few minutes, not finding anything to say, taking a few glances at each other. Every time their eyes meet, they quickly avert their gaze, pretending they didn’t look at each other.
“Hey Sonic, there’s something I want to talk about” Amy looks down as they continue walking, a few raindrops start hitting the pavement as the storm approaches, both of them too distracted to notice.
Just as Sonic is about to ask, a very loud lightning illuminates the sky for a second making Amy squeal and jump a bit in surprise.
“Woah! Hold that thought Amy, we need to hurry up before we get soaked!” Sonic points at the dark clouds looming above, threatening to soak them if they dare stay outside long enough.
“Race ya home?” Sonic smiles defiantly at Amy expecting her to follow along.
“You’re on!” Amy returns the smile and clenches her fist in front of her confidently.
A few minutes go by and the storm picks up, the rain pours down hard as they hurriedly bolt towards their destination, Sonic looking back at Amy every few seconds to make sure she is okay, she smiles with furious determination, trying hard to catch up with Sonic, the rain hitting both their faces neither of them willing to give up and lose.
They get to Amy’s house and quickly take refuge under Amy’s porch; they look at each other and laugh. Both of them are completely soaked, shaking as the cool winds blow intensely.
“Hurry up and get inside before you catch a cold” Sonic says as the storm suddenly gets harsher, Amy pulls out her keys and starts unlocking the door while giggling at the situation.
“Give me a second, I’m still catching my breath” Amy turns the key and finally manages to open the door.
“Alright, see you aroun-” Sonic begins to say goodbye to Amy but she interrupts him, still holding the door open.
“You should probably stay until the storm clears out; I know you’ve been through worse but still” Amy says, a worried expression painted across her face, Sonic considers her offer for a bit but decides to decline.
“I’ll be fi-” Sonic is rudely interrupted again, almost on cue, by another loud thunderbolt, he turns around to see the wind blowing incredibly hard, tipping a tree over a parked car, completely wrecking it.
“On second thought you have a good point!... I’ll take you up on that offer” Sonic quickly walks inside the safe haven that is Amy’s home.
Sonic stands in the familiar living room while Amy heads towards the bathroom. Having been at Amy’s house time and time again he’d grown used to the place almost as much as Tails' house.
While waiting for Amy he begins to look around the place, he sees a picture of himself and Amy in front of Spagonia’s huge clock tower, as memories of that day come back to him, he begins to feel a warmth in his chest.
Amy comes back with two towels, handing one to Sonic.
“Amy you really should take a warm bath; I’d hate it if you get sick” says Sonic, a bit of concern in his voice. He ruffles his quills with the towel, removing as much moisture from his body as possible.
“It’s okay I’ll just change, I’ll be fine” Amy, still a bit wet, walks to her room and closes the door behind her.
Sonic sits down and continues using the towel to dry himself, moments later the door opens, Amy comes out, wearing pink pajamas with strawberry pattern printed all over, he catches himself staring and looks away, his eyes linger a bit on the open door to her room. Then he notices some neatly packed luggage next to her bed.
Amy sits next to Sonic; she looks at him and notices his eyes are focused elsewhere. She turns to look at what’s gotten his attention and her smile fades away. He’s probably figured things out.
“Is that what you wanted to talk to me about?” Sonic points at her luggage, Amy nods in response, she tries to smile but her lips tighten.
“I’m leaving in a week” Amy answers. Sonic feels his heart sink, a wave of emotions hit him all at the same time.
“That’s great! I bet it’ll be real fun Amy!” Sonic’s enthusiasm contrasts the heaviness in his chest. But he has to put those feelings aside. He should be happy for her, she’s finally going on her great adventure, he thinks. Amy doesn’t respond, instead she just looks at him.
“So, how long are you leaving for?” Sonic asks, hoping the answer is something along the lines of, a week or so.
“Two years” Amy looks away, she knows that if she so much as takes a peep at him right now, she’ll start bawling her eyes out and get cold feet. Sonic tenses a bit, almost losing that relaxed expression he tends to have even in the roughest of situations.
Amy’s been planning this for a while, she told him herself a week ago at Starfall island, he didn’t realize however, that the day would come so soon. He also didn’t expect her to be gone for that long.
“That’s… a lot of time to have all sorts of exciting adventures huh? Don’t forget to send us some post cards” Sonic jokingly adds. He hates himself for not taking this seriously, but he can’t help but crack a joke. That way his heart won’t hurt as much.
Amy twirls her thumbs not knowing what to say, the sound of rain hitting the window echoes throughout the otherwise quiet room.
“When we were at Montblanc, and you saw me talking with that girl... I thought you were going to get mad at me… But this time, it didn’t even bother you” Sonic breaks the silence, he needed to get this out of his chest.
“It did bother me” Amy quickly turns around to correct him, Sonic pulls himself back instinctively as her face gets a little too close to his. He catches the soft scent of her perfume. He’s always loved to stop and smell the flowers when he goes out for a run, this smell makes him feel oddly at home.
“Huh?” Sonic is at a loss for words.
“Of course it bothered me, but... I’m just...” Amy pauses for a few seconds, not finding the right words.
“I don’t know...” Amy looks away, not able to put her feelings into words, the silence becomes unbearable with each second that passes, almost like they are stuck in time.
Sonic sighs.
“After we got stranded on Starfall Islands... It started raining out of nowhere... and as I ran around trying to find you, the only thing I could think about was, how nice it would be to share an umbrella with you” Sonic tries to look into her eyes but Amy is facing down, her face a slight shade of red.
“I’ve been feeling this way for a long time; every time I see you, my heart starts to go crazy, and I get this warm feeling inside; And when you run to me, I get scared you might notice... I’ve always been too afraid to admit it but… You make me feel so amazing” Sonic adds.
Amy looks up, teardrops forming as their eyes finally meet.
“When you told me that you wanted to go and travel the world, I was happy for you at first… I mean, I still am but… I realize that means you’re going away... And even if it isn’t forever, just thinking about it hurts” Sonic forces a smile trying to act cool, Amy stays quiet, her heart about to burst out of her chest.
“Then I thought about how you’ve changed... You stopped showing those energetic displays of affection, those hugs that felt like you were trying to snap me in half, all of that... It made me start thinking that maybe it was because you stopped... You know... Liking me” Sonic continues, he stares at Amy hoping that she’ll tell him he’s wrong.
“Was I too late to realize that... I liked you too?” Sonic looks up at the ceiling, he’s shaking ever so slightly.
“I was obsessed with you for a long time... I thought about you every single second; I wanted to spend all of my days by your side” She sighs, thinking about how her obsession with Sonic meant everything back then.
“I stopped feeling that way” Amy says coldly. What a fool he was, thinking that the girl he pushed away day after day would keep loving him forever. Taking her for granted was his biggest mistake and he regrets every second of it.
“But I never stopped loving you... And I never will” Sonic looks back at her, noticing tears dripping on Amy’s leg.
“I love you so much” Amy sobs. Sonic extends his hand to comfort her but she moves back rejecting his approach
“You idiot” Amy avoids any eye contact, her body tensing up as her brows furrow.
“Amy?” Sonic pulls his hand back a bit
“You just had to wait until I was ready to leave to tell me this” Amy pouts, she punches Sonic’s shoulder hard enough for him to feel it but not enough to injure him.
“Hey!” Sonic rubs his arm and chuckles, maybe she did hit him a bit too hard. Amy’s expression softens.
“So, I guess it’s my turn to wait for you” Sonic can’t help but find the irony of the situation funny.
Suddenly, darkness fills the room as the power goes out.
Amy blushes as they both stare deep into each other’s eyes, the moonlight shining just right through the window to illuminate them, almost like a spotlight was placed by fate itself.
“Amy, I…” Sonic mutters as he starts to shake ever so slightly. But this time he’ll be brave; this time he’ll be true to his feelings.
After what seemed like an eternity Sonic closes the distance slowly. Amy’s tail starts to wag, her excitement overwhelming her rising nervousness.
“I love you” Sonic whispers. Mere seconds before their lips touch, Sonic boldly holds Amy tightly by the waist.
With their eyes closed, and as if they’ve already done this a thousand times before, they kiss. Their lips intertwining softly but passionately, they hold each other warmly.
“You finally said it back” Amy whispers happily after they pull away from their first kiss.
“I love you too Sonic” Amy answers Sonic’s confession, her eyes still teary as the happiness overwhelms her.
The storm already starting to subside goes completely unnoticed as they continue kissing; Their embrace becomes more and more intense, as if they are making up for all the times they didn’t kiss before. Without thinking they head into Amy’s room, neither of them willing to let go of the other.
The moon as their only witness, they spend their night held tightly to one another as their true feelings finally come to the surface.
One week passes in a blink of an eye, Amy’s friends are all gathered at the train station to say goodbye to her, the place is somewhat empty since it’s still pretty early, the sun paints the sky pink for a bit as it starts to rise.
“But I want to go too” Cream sobs while hugging Amy tightly, Cheese barely holding back tears. Her best friend leaving for that long is really affecting the poor bunny.
“I know, I wish I could take you but you still have school… I’m gonna miss you so much” Amy pats her head, Cream goes back to Vanilla and hugs her as she continues crying, Cheese gives her a comforting hug, trying to help her deal with the emotional turmoil.
Tails and Knuckles walk up to Amy.
“We’re going to miss you Amy” Tails gives her a quick hug, Amy pats Tail's back as if to reassure him that everything will be alright.
“Take care, okay?” Knuckles walks to them and fist bumps her. Amy knows that when it comes to Knuckles, she really doesn’t need to hold back; The fist bump looked so casual and yet, the resulting shockwave pushed their hair back and sent a thunderous roar across the train station.
Rouge, sitting on a bench in a relaxed manner gives her a gentle wave as well, and to almost everyone’s surprise, even Shadow showed up to say goodbye.
“Amy Rose, I trust you’ll be back before we get any comeback concerts” Shadow hands Amy a small autographed picture of Swift the Swallow, their all-time favorite singer.
“Oh my god! Your autographed photocard, are you sure!?” Amy’s eyes widen, she knows how much this card means to Shadow, and how tough it was for him to get his hands on it but shadow nods. Amy excitedly jumps to hug Shadow but he steps to the side and avoids her.
Amy regains her footing and turns to Shadow; She laughs and thanks him again for the kind gesture
“I’ll treasure this forever! Thank you, Shadow!” Amy looks like she’s going to cry, luckily Tangle and Whisper approach Amy right before the waterfall of tears start pouring out.
“Got all your bags on the train Amy! Hey, if you stop by Dulcia on the way make sure to get the triple strawberry ice cream, I’ve heard it’s the best in the world!” Tangle says enthusiastically, the thought of having the best ice-cream in the whole world distracts her enough to forget about all the crying she was about to do.
“Oh, you bet I will! I’m getting every flavor at least twice!” Amy and Tangle hug tightly, even if they haven’t known each other for that long, their friendship is still very dear to them.
“Bye Amy” Whisper says in a soft tone, despite her lack of words it’s clear that she is also happy for Amy.
“Ten minutes for departure!” Announces the train assistant, ringing a small bell to catch the attention of their passengers.
“That dumb Sonic’s running late, as always...” says Knuckles, annoyed, tapping his foot on the floor and crossing his arms.
“It’s fine Knuckles” Amy tries to calm Knuckles down, he sometimes gets over protective of her but Amy doesn’t mind.
“Sonic wouldn’t be late for something like this unless something happened... I tried calling a few times but he’s not responding” says Tails in a confused and slightly concerned tone, he goes through his phone hoping Sonic texted back but of course, nothing.
“Leave it to Sonic to “lose” the only means to track him down, how do you guys even keep up with him?” says Tangle laughing.
“I had something to do, okay?” Sonic is standing next to Amy, a dust cloud fading next to him; Tangle coughs and grasps for air as she waves her hand to disperse the dust cloud, the young bell boy runs to catch his hat that the sudden gust of wind blew away.
“Sonic!” Amy jumps to Sonic, hugging him tightly.
“What? Thought I wouldn’t come and say goodbye?” Sonic chuckles, returning the hug, he caresses her hair in a loving manner, Whisper notices this but keeps it to herself.
“Yes, actually” Knuckles answers the rhetorical question annoyed.
“Well, I’m here, aren’t I?” Sonic retorts, sticking his tongue out at Knuckles, pissing him off more.
“Thanks for being here Sonic” Amy, still not letting go of him, smiles warmly.
“Sorry for being late Amy, I was running around looking for something” Sonic tries to apologize but Amy shakes her head.
“I’m just glad I can see you one last time before I leave” Amy hugs him tighter making him wince a bit in pain as the air in his lungs leaves all at once.
After they pull out of the hug Sonic hands her a small wooden box in the shape of a rectangle.
“Here, it took a while for me to find a good one, hope you like it” Sonic says as he gives the present to Amy.
“I wrote something too; It’s inside the box... Don’t open it until you’re on your way to your adventure, okay?” Sonic winks and Amy nods while holding back tears.
“I don’t even know what it is and I already love it” Amy looks at Sonic, her smile as wide as it can be, she wipes a few tears that were rolling down her cheek.
“Passengers please board the train with your tickets on hand! we are leaving in five minutes!” The sudden announcement from the train assistant makes everyone turn their heads towards the train, Cream in particular looks devastated, her eyes teary as she sees her best friend leave.
“Good luck Amy” Sonic says, he holds her hand tightly as they look deep into each other’s eyes for a second, Sonic looks away embarrassed.
“Thanks, Sonic... Thank you everyone!” Amy waves goodbye as she walks onto the train, she walks through the hallway and eventually finds her seat, she places her hand on the window to open it, she looks at her friends. Their support means the world to her, and although she is sad to leave, she is happy to have them all in her life.
The train starts to release steam and whistles as it begins to move forward, slowly but steadily it starts to pick up the pace.
“Bye-bye!” Amy waves through her window, she can see everyone waving back at her, her gaze focuses on Sonic one last time. The train accelerates as it leaves the station. Everyone starts to look further and further away; She turns to her table as soon as she is unable to see anyone anymore.
Amy sighs and looks at the present Sonic gave her, she caresses the box with her fingers feeling warm inside, the butterflies in her stomach start to go crazy as a wave of excitement and nerves hit her all at the same time.
She starts unwrapping it and sees a letter written in rather messy handwriting, the letter reads:
“Thank you for waiting for me, I brought a little souvenir from Little Planet, I hope it brings you good luck on your journey, with love -Sonic the Hedgehog”
Under the note is a single yellow flower made of crystal packed safely inside a transparent box, Amy instantly recognizes this flower. How did he even manage to find one this well preserved? She hugs the present tightly while sobbing uncontrollably as the train takes her towards her next adventure.
Two years later
It’s a pretty ordinary evening at cafe Montblanc, a young waitress holds a plate of chili dogs as she walks out of the kitchen, she heads to a table where a lone blue hedgehog is sitting, he is at his usual spot facing the wall as the other chair across the table remains empty, his face as relaxed as ever as he looks outside the window to watch the stars.
“Here’s the usual mister Sonic, hope you enjoy it!” Says the waitress as she sets the food down.
“Thanks” Sonic looks at her with a smile.
Sonic’s grown a bit taller over the past couple of years, his shoulders and chest a bit broader, otherwise his appearance is completely unchanged, his blue quills are as long as always and he sports his favorite red shoes with golden buckles on the outer sides.
“Mind if I sit here with you?” A familiar voice asks suddenly.
Sonic was about to start eating but stops abruptly.
Sonic looks up and sees Amy, her smile as bright as he remembered, her quills a tad bit longer now brush slightly on her shoulder, she wears her red headband as always and a pretty new red dress slightly longer than her older one adorned with a white strap with a bow on her waist.
“Amy!” Sonic gets up in a blink of an eye and hugs her, she hugs him back tightly.
“I thought you weren’t coming back for another week?!” Asks Sonic, surprised by her sudden arrival.
“I was, so keep it a secret... I want to surprise everyone tomorrow” Amy says, putting her finger on her lips.
“How’d you know I’d be here anyway?” Sonic asks, still smiling from the excitement, they sit down.
“A little bird told me that you come here every other day at around this time... says you told them this place reminds you of me... did you miss me that much?” Amy says with a smug expression, making Sonic blush.
“Not as much as you missed me, I bet” Sonic retorts as he sits back down, Amy pulls the chair and sits down next to him.
The both of them chat the night away, catching up with the past two years of their lives as the sky outside starts filling up with dark and rainy clouds, a few raindrops already sliding down Montblanc’s windows, the two hedgehogs feel a slight sense of deja-vu.
Sonic holds Amy’s hand gently.
“Welcome back Amy” Sonic smiles.
