If someone were to tell Michael Holt that this was gonna happen, he would probably tell them they were suffering from serious symptoms of delusion. Him, Mr Terrific , hero of justice, one of the smartest minds in the world, with 14 PhDs, falling for Guy fucking Gardner? Annoying, cocky, with terrible taste for haircuts Guy Gardner? Yeah he would probably ask his T-Spheres to shot the person who would dare say that.
See, Michael ins't a emotions person, far from It, too many things happened in his life that made him resent that part of himself, he doesn't hate having to interact with people, he's a damn hero, so he has to be a public person, but if you ask him, he would rather spend his time with his T-Spheres, who somehow became the closest things he has for comfort, he made them ask trivia questions, for exercise and to keep his mind grounded, they also reminded him to take care of himself. When he's too deep into his technology, he sometimes forgets to eat, and they make sure to beep (very loudly at that) to get him to do something instead of locking himself in a lab all day.
So when Maxwell Lord picked him to join a team of heros, he wouldn't exactly say he was excited, at first, things were very awkward, he found his teamates.... Odd to say the least. Kendra was fine for the most part, he could go without the Hawk screams sometimes, but hey, it's her thing. She's also the youngest member of the team, so even if he wanted to bond, he had the feeling It wouldn't be a great match, so they were mostly civil to each other, she found him very careful and smart, and he found her brave and strong, it's as good as it get's.
Now, Guy Gardner, one of earth green lanterns, and while Michael didn't know the other's ones personally, he could sure say he was the most obnoxious one out of them, since the start, Guy was quite full of himself, he treated missions as if they were his stage show, always showing off to people with that hideous haircut, always cracking jokes, always on other's personal space, he was everything Michael normally would hate on a person. And for a good while he could say he did, he didn't hate the guy, he did his job right at the end of the day, and that's what matters to the team, and Michael didn't belive in God, but if he did, he would be begging him everyday for patience, cause damn, was Guy a pain in the ass!.
But after sometime (Michael couldn't tell when), that annoying presence, somehow became more and more present in his life, at first, they started to eating together, sometimes, Guy would ask him if he wanted to drink something after a mission, Michael found himself not minding when Guy threw his arms around his shoulders, or hugged him a bit to tight after they defeated a bad guy, and after the whole Superman, Lex luthor, and Metropolis almost getting destroyed events, Guy became a more likable person to be around, in fact, the whole team became closer, Kendra also started hanging around with them, and they were getting Rex used to being a member, overall, Michael would say he found himself happy with their presence, tho he would never admit out loud.
So, Michael found himself surprised, when one day, Guy just kissed him, out of the blue, no build up, and after a quick peck on his lips, he stared at Guy shocked expression (with black lipstick now smeared on his lips). They stared at each other for at least 15 seconds, when Michael found himself even more surprised, when he kissed Guy back. They later found themselves on Michael's bed, and after finding what Guy got going on down there, he understand why the man was so full of himself.
They started seeing each other more, Michael somehow found himself actualy liking the obnoxious man, and he knows, he could do better, hell he knows he's a good looking man, Guy makes sure to make that clear, always calling him "handsome", "pretty face", "Gorgeous", Michael just told him to shut up, feeling his cheeks heat with the compliments, and Guy was always praising him, "you so smart sweetheart, i could always count on you". Michael was confused, he was not a feelings person, but Guy, Guy made him actualy want to feel something, he was the first person that made him feel like that after his wife died, and it's not like Michael didn't try dating again before, is just, while other people called him bitchy, rude, or heartless, Guy knew him too well, to know he's not always good with sentimental stuff, he understood that his resting emotionless face wasn't a sign of distaste, it was just how he was, and he never judged Michael for it, it made him feel....Good, It felt good to let himself let be taken cafe off, and boy did Guy knew how to take care of him, he found himself at ease with the other man.
They even began getting more touchy during missions, something the other's noticed, but didn't say anything, well, minus Clark, who gave a very long rant about how love is beautiful thing and all the loverboy shit Clark always says, he even tagged Lois along too, the women rolling her eyes at her boyfriend, but with love in her own eyes, Michael just gave them a deep, long stare at the time, but deep down he knew Clark wasn't exactly wrong he was in love with Guy Gardner, and that was scary to admit, it's been a while since he allowed himself to feel, he made a wall for himself, one that Guy came crashing down, Michael just hopes it doesn't break.
"Watcha thinkin handsome?" Came the Green Lantern voice, from where he was sitting on the couch of the hall, apparently already bored of the news about a certain Peacemaker again.
"Nothing important, are you gonna have another tantrum over him?" Michael says as he points to the image of the silver helmet idiot on the tv. Peacemaker, what a dumbass name.
"Look, it's not a tantrum, that guy has some serious problems."
"I remember when you interview him when he tried to join us."
"Yeah, i remember saying he fucking sucks, and even then, after he said "oh i would tap the fuck out that Terrific ass" to YOU!" Guy says as he starts to move his arms all over the place, "I definitely don't wanna see that asshole around anymore,like seriously, who says shit like that?"
"You always say things like that," Michael deadpans.
"That's different! Cause i actualy," Guy starts as he puts his hands on Michael waits, "can have all this to myself baby!"
Michael rolls his eyes at the man in front of him, but no malice behind it, already used to Guy's sudden affection (and jealousy) moments, he starts to move to his desk again, Guy arms falling on his sides, "Well i already have a idiot for myself, so don't mind what Peacemaker says too much man."
"Hear that? That Terrific ass all mine Pissmaker!" Guy screams at the tv as if it could actualy hear him, "also don't go calling me "man" i been inside you too many times to be getting treated like a bro," he says as his eyes came back to Michael, who now was seated in his desk with a mirror in front of him, choosing to ignore that last comment, Guy was staring deeply as Michael starded putting the dark lipstick on his lips, God, he thanked him everyday for getting to smudge those lips everyday.
So yeah, maybe Michael had fallen for the most obnoxious and corny (with the worst hairstyle too) Green lantern there is. But he was happy, his team was happy, he couldn't know if whatever they have would end, but he wanted to test it, to feel it.... To love again, and as he took a glance of Guy in his mirror, looking at him with that dumbass smile, he knew one thing for sure.
Guy had fallen even harder.
