Chapter Text
The clock struck five o'clock. Everyone at the Daily Planet began packing their belongings to head home.
"So?" Jimmy asked, glancing at Lois and Clark holding hands as they packed. "Are you guys gonna do anything together this weekend?"
"No," Lois replied. "I'm visiting my parents this weekend. What about you? Are you still with Eve?"
"She and I are um... ahh..."
"Pregnant?" Clark guessed.
"Oh God. No," Jimmy exclaimed. "We are taking a break."
"You guys broke up?"
"No, Clark. 'Taking a break' means you're pausing a relationship. It's not an official breakup."
"Is there a problem going on between you guys?" Lois asked.
Jimmy paused for a moment. "We can't... seem to... agree on... where our relationship is. I feel like we are going in too fast, while she thinks we're going in too slow."
Lois would have related to Jimmy a few weeks before, thinking that her relationship with Clark was going too fast, but after the rift and the Luthor problem, she changed her mind. She realized that sometimes in this cynical world that love does exist. It’s rare, but it’s there with Clark, and she had to stop running from it. She didn't know what to think of Jimmy and Eve's relationship, though. She only met Eve once in person a few days ago and thought she was nice.
"Well, hopefully, you guys will find an understanding," Clark said. "Maybe you aren't meant for each other romantically, but you can still be friends.
"Are you doing anything on the weekend, Clark?" Jimmy asked.
"Not really. Apparently, someone is moving in next to my apartment. I saw someone unboxing their things."
"Oh, what's their name?"
"Jessica. Jessica Jones."
