Summary
When Neville Longbottom and Astoria Greengrass are killed in an explosion caused by a terrorist Death Eater cell, 10 years after the Hogwarts Battle, their child, Leo Longbottom, is orphaned.
Hermione Granger, grieving, overworked and still traumatized from the war, takes her godmother role seriously; while she never saw herself as a mother, she will do everything to keep Leo safe and loved.
When Neville's and Astoria's will reveals that Hermione is not Leo's sole legal guardian, Hermione is shocked to learn that Draco Malfoy, Astoria's ex-husband, is Leo's godfather, and that Neville and Astoria wanted them, together, to be Leo's joint guardians.
Hermione hasn't even seen Draco since his Azkaban trial, and the memory of the war lingers on her opinion of Draco; meanwhile, Draco still thinks Hermione a swot, although he can't help but notice just how much she's changed since their Hogwarts rivalry.
Both are very well aware that -- despite what Neville and Astoria claimed -- Gryffindor and Slytherin, Gold and Silver, and Light and Dark, don't mix, and certainly don't co-parent.
But, well, they'll do anything for Leo, including move to Malfoy Manor and pretend to be a family.
