Fragile manages not to startle awake when she feels the touch against her skin, but she isn’t able to stop her heart from leaping into her throat when she realises it’s Sam wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her in closer to him. There it remains curled snugly around her body as she lies tucked against his chest, the comforting rhythm of his heartbeat mere inches from her ear helping to lull her to sleep. When was the last time she had felt this? Surrounded by this feeling of warmth and safety, a protective arm encircling her?
And in what world would she have ever thought she would be able to experience this with Sam?
