Work Text:
They never usually have time to relax. He's busy. The people who killed his father are still out there and he needs to stop them. But Chihiro knows that breaks are necessary. It's been a long week and he feels dead on his feet. The Hishaku got away after their break-in at Kamunabi HQ. They managed to minimize the damage as much as possible, but it was still chaos around them. Despite this, they had no use for Chihiro.
He found himself, suddenly for the first time in weeks, with nothing to do. He had things he wanted to do- but in Shiba's wise words: it's nothing that can't wait a couple of days. He should relax, maybe get a full night's sleep first before jumping head first back into everything. Hakuri suggests a movie night with everyone to wind down, Chihiro agrees to go only because Hakuri asked him to. He would much rather have him to himself, wrapped up together in his bed. He'll settle for cuddling on the couch with friends around them, though.
There's arguments over what kind of movie they should watch. Hakuri, Uruha, and Iori want to watch a rom-com. Hiyuki, Tafuku, and Shiba prefer action movies. The rest of them (Chihiro, the Masumi, and Samura) have no opinions on movie genres. Chihiro sides with Hakuri when asked, but he's not super enthusiastic about it. Iori and Uruha guilt trip Samura into siding with their choice. Because Chihiro and Samura put their votes in for a rom-com, the Masumi pool their votes in too, giving them a clear majority vote. Hiyuki tries to argue about fairness, and Chihiro does agree with her, but there's not much she can do.
Chihiro doesn't pay much attention to the movie, he instead settles against Hakuri. His arm draped over Hakuri's shoulders, he's running his fingers through his soft hair, enjoying the feeling of it between his fingers. Hakuri is warm against him- comforting. Chihiro watches him more than the screen. Hakuri traces shapes on his thighs mindlessly, he's actually paying attention to the movie, occasionally sitting forward to make a joke to Iori.
At some point, probably close to an hour into the movie Chihiro starts to doze off. He catches his head a few times before he gives in and unwraps himself from Hakuri so he can comfortably rest his head on his shoulder. Hakuri takes his hand in his, Chihiro's left hand to be precise, and massages his palms gently; if Chihiro were a cat he would purr. He drifts off to sleep, completely missing the rest of the movie he doesn't care about. An indiscernible amount of time passes before Chihiro is shaken awake. It's darker than it was before and the movie on the TV is definitely not what they were watching. It's probably been a couple of hours.
"Want to go to bed?" Hakuri asks quietly over the movie.
Chihiro reaches up to rub the sleep from his eyes as he nods slowly. They quietly make their way out, the rest of the group silently acknowledges their departure. Chihiro notices the Masumi have already gone. He lets himself be led back to their room- technically it's his room, but Hakuri has spent every night with him, despite having his own room. Chihiro doesn't mind one bit.
They're already wearing pajamas, movie nights have a specific dress code, apparently, so they collapse into bed as soon as the door is closed behind them. Chihiro appreciates the extra space provided by the bed, this way he can properly cuddle Hakuri. He pulls him close, flush against his chest like a giant teddy bear, placing one of his hands over Hakuri's heart so he can feel the steady drumming under his fingertips. Chihiro places a kiss to the back of Hakuri's neck, making him shiver as Hakuri pulls a blanket over the both of them.
Chihiro stays up as long as he can, savoring Hakuri's presence until he can't keep his eyes open anymore. Hakuri's breath becomes steady under his touch and his soft snoring lulls him to sleep like a lullaby.
