After getting settled into their room, Bob and Phoenix took time to spend time with their daughter alone before bringing everyone. They FaceTimed their parents, revealing that she was here and her name. Once they were ready for guests, Bob called Ice to bring him, Mav, Rooster, and Halo to their room before the others.
“Are you ready to meet your grandpas, aunts, and uncles?” Phoenix kissed the top of her daughter’s head.
The door soon opened and everyone they invited came into the room. The four walked into the room with gifts for the new parents and their daughter. They all gave Bob a quick hug before heading over to the hospital bed.
“Hi,” Phoenix smiled at Mav and Ice as they approached the bed.
“How are you?” Ice asked.
“Tired,” Phoenix chuckled and looked at her fathers. “But glad she’s finally here.”
“Who wants to hold her first?” Bob asked.
“What about the godparents and Ice?” Phoenix suggested as she looked at Rooster and Halo. “So Mav doesn’t drop her on the floor.”
“What?” Halo questioned.
“You’re serious?” Rooster followed.
“Yep,” Bob nodded. “If you two don’t want to be her godparents, it’s fine.”
“No, this gives me an opportunity to brag to Hangman that I’m her godfather,” Rooster chuckled as he washed his hands.
Bob handed Rooster Baby Floyd and Rooster cradled her in his arms. Rooster suddenly felt a connection once she was placed in his arms. Just a few hours old, Rooster already has the feeling that he needs to take every bullet for her. Tears formed as Rooster remembered the hardships his friends went through during their marriage and while trying for a baby.
“So, everyone, meet Skyler Maeve Floyd.” Phoenix proudly announced her daughter’s name.
“That’s a beautiful name,” Halo smiled as she handed her goddaughter to Ice.
“Maeve?” Mav questioned. “Why Maeve?”
“Because Skyler Maverick Floyd does not flow that well,” Bob explained, and they soon saw the tears swelling up in Mav’s eyes.
“You named her after me?” Mav swallowed the sob that was coming up his throat. “Why?”
“Because you were one of the people who were constantly there for us,” Phoenix started to tear up, seeing Mav’s reaction. “You kept us safe. You brought us alive on that mission even though we weren’t supposed to. We owe you.”
“Thank you,” Mav said, walking up to the couple and hugging them.
“Want to hold your namesake?” Ice looked at his husband.
Nodding his head, Ice gently passed Skyler to his husband, and Mav looked at her in disbelief.
“Oh, your Grandpa Ice and I are going to spoil the hell out of you,” Mav whispered.
“Language,” Ice told him, which made everyone laugh.
“Shush, she won’t know,” Mav looked at his husband before looking back down at his granddaughter.
Everyone else talked to the new parents while Mav walked around the hospital room, talking to Skyler about the shenanigans they were going to get up to. Once she reaches one year old, he’s going to bring her up in the P-51 and take her for a joyride with Ice holding her and sitting in the back. Sleepovers at his and Ice’s house if Bob and Phoenix want to spend the night out. The same as Rooster, he would protect her as much as he could.
After an hour or so staying in the room, the four decided it was time for them to leave and have the others visit them. More gifts were brought, and pictures were taken. The rest of the Daggers were there for a short time since they didn’t want to overwhelm the new parents. They also had to hit a couple of party stores to decorate Bob and Phoenix’s house to welcome them and the new little one back home.
As Phoenix was taking a nap, it let Bob and his daughter have a moment. Shirtless and looking down at his chest, Bob stroked his thumb on his daughter’s back as she napped.
“Hi baby girl,” Bob whispered. “You’ve had a tiring day, haven’t you?”
Skyler let out a yawn as a response before going back to sleep.
“You are in for a wild ride because of our families. Well, mostly your naval side,” Bob chuckled. “Everything somehow becomes chaotic because of them. It’s mostly because of your Uncle Fritz and Fanboy, but everyone else is fine. Most of the time. Don’t let that scare you, though. You have me and your mom.”
Looking over at his wife, his lips curved upward watching her nap. Looking back at Skyler, he continued to talk.
“You’re so lucky to have her as your mom,” Bob smiled with joy. “I still can’t believe she agreed to marry me. She could’ve had anyone else but chose me.”
“Because you’re the only guy who saw me for me,” Phoenix replied.
“What are you doing awake?” Bob asked.
“I’m getting hungry,” Phoenix chuckled. “I’m pretty sure she is also.”
Perfect timing, Skyler screeched, indicating that she needed to be fed. The two parents chuckled as Bob handed Skyler to Phoenix. Opening up DoorDash on his phone, Bob started to order the food Phoenix couldn’t have during her pregnancy as Phoenix fed their daughter. Phoenix continued to feed her daughter while Bob replied to everyone’s text messages as they waited for their food.
“While your dad is picking up the food, why don’t we have some girl talk?” Phoenix talked to her daughter. “I’m pretty sure your dad has told you that we have a lot of family, but don’t worry, they already love you. You have so many grandparents, aunts, and uncles who will spoil you. Your father and I promise that we’ll protect you and love you unconditionally. We may have our fights and arguments in the future, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t love you. You understand right?”
Skyler gurgled in response, which made Phoenix laugh. Phoenix continued to talk about their three families until it was time to change Skyler’s diaper.
“Oh, you have a stinky one, don’t you?” Phoenix started to get out of bed.
“No, you stay in bed,” Bob said as he walked into the room with a bag of food. “I’ll change her.”
Placing the bag of food on the table, Bob took Skyler from Phoenix’s arms and changed her diaper before putting her in the bassinet.
“Oh, do you know how much I love you?” Phoenix beamed as she pulled out her favorite sandwich from the bag.
“Well, we do have a kid together now,” Bob chuckled before sitting down next to his wife.
‘Clinking’ their sandwiches, they enjoyed their first meal together as a family of three.
