Work Text:
Nearing the Raptor padlock, he could hear his girls growling angrily. He immediately ran inside, wanting to know what was going on. He found Vic Hoskins standing on the catwalk with a smug look on his face. He had his hands on his hips and was smiling down at his girls, who hissed and growled at him.
When he walked over, Barry looked relieved to see him.
“I told him to leave, but he refused to listen to me.”
Hoskins reached into a nearby bucket and threw food at Delta. It bounced off her snout, and she glared, looking offended.
“Come on, you stupid thing, eat it.”
Hoskins muttered and reached into the bucket again.
“As much as I hate him, you need to stop him before the girls find a way to knock him off the catwalk.”
“I know.”
He glared at the man, worried that his girls might get hurt because of his stupidity. He climbed the catwalk angrily, telling him to leave. His girls relaxed slightly in relief, knowing he’d get rid of Hoskins for them.
“You don’t tell me what to do.”
Hoskins crossed his arms, acting as though he owned the place.
“Those are my raptors.”
“Their InGen property. Which means I can look at them all I want.”
Vic Hoskins stepped forward until his face was inches from his, waiting for him to step back. He didn’t and instead chose to hold his ground.
“I think you should leave.”
“I think you’re forgetting who you work for.”
“I don’t work for InGen, and I definitely don’t work for you.”
From below, his raptors growled, showing off their sharp teeth in warning. All of them looked furious, wanting Hoskins away from their Alpha and more than happy to rip him away.
“If you don’t start turning in your reports, we’ll replace you.”
Hoskins threatened.
“No one can work with those raptors like I can.”
“Then I guess we’ll need new raptors.”
Hoskins smirked at the implication of putting his raptors down. He glared and barely stopped himself from punching the man in the face. Down below, he saw Blue's eyes narrow, and he knew she understood what Hoskins had just threatened.
The other man walked away, oblivious to the angry raptors staring him down. He watched Hoskins climb down the stairs and walk towards his truck, not taking his eyes off him until he was gone.
When he looked back at his girls, they all looked mad and were fantasizing about killing him. Although it was tempting to let them lose, he knew it would only end in their deaths, something he wouldn’t allow, no matter how tempting it was to kill Hoskins.
Usually, his girls were all for treats and would happily eat them. However, none of them touched the treat Hoskins threw into their padlock. All of them avoided it as much as possible until they took it out.
Even though he hated reports, he started sending them in more. Any sensitive information wasn’t mentioned, and it was only basic stuff. He knew it wasn’t what Hoskins wanted, and he didn’t care. There was enough in his reports that InGen wouldn’t complain if they looked into it, but not enough that they learned important information regarding his training. Realistically, he knew they couldn’t do anything, but he wasn’t going to risk his girls.
The next time Hoskins showed up, he was in his office filling out forms for more food. His raptors had immediately started barking and screeching in displeasure. He stepped out of his office to see what was happening and found Hoskins walking towards him, looking annoyed.
“What are these?”
He threw his reports at him, and he looked one over, pretending to be confused.
“My reports?”
“Cut the bullshit, Owen, I know you're leaving shit out. Don’t make me put cameras here.”
“You have no authority to do that.”
He stared at him coldly, and Hoskins huffed.
“I’ll find a way since you’re obviously hiding things.”
“What could I possibly be hiding?”
He gave him an amused look, and Hoskins glared.
“I’ll find out. Just you wait and see, Owen, soon you and those raptors will be under my control.”
“Never going to happen, now get out of my raptor padlock.”
His girls snarled in agreement, and Hoskins stormed out muttering under his breath. He knew he couldn’t do anything because he’d already tried and quickly been shut down. He didn’t know why he’d come here to make baseless threats unless he wanted to annoy him and his raptors.
Looking down, he could see his girls pacing back and forth in agitation. The only one who seemed calm was Blue, and she was looking directly at him. From the look in her eyes, he knew Hoskins would be in trouble if they ever caught him.
A few days later and he was doing the usual nightly routine. His girls had already eaten and were getting ready for bed. The other workers had left early since a party was happening. He wasn’t interested and told everyone else to leave. Barry had asked if he should stay, looking hesitant, and he quickly assured him he’d be fine.
He smiled, watching his girls cuddle together like usual. Out of the four, only Blue was still awake and watching as he cleaned up. He locked up the catwalk, not wanting Hoskins or a guest getting any ideas and climbing up here in the middle of the night.
Blue suddenly stood up and began growling and barking at something behind him. Confused, he turned around and came face to face with two men. He punched one in the face and kicked the other man. His hand reached for his knife, and the men threw him over the catwalk and into the raptor enclosure.
Miraculously, he was unharmed by the fall, and when he looked up, he could see the two men running away. His girls ran over in alarm, and Blue began looking him over. When he’d reassured them he wasn’t injured, they looked relieved and angry at the men who tried to hurt him.
He’d gently pet them, soothing their anger until they were pressing against him, wanting cuddles. Unable to resist, he let them lead him to their bed, where they all layed down and cuddled together. In the morning, Barry was in for quite the surprise, and he sheepishly told him what happened.
“So you spent the night with the raptors?”
He shrugged.
“I might as well have joined their cuddle pile. It's not like I could have opened the gate on the raptor side.”
Barry just shook his head, muttering about him being crazy. Later that day, Hoskins made an appearance and seemed surprised to see him. He’d walked over in a good mood, which quickly died the moment he saw him. His raptors immediately began growling and barking. Delta went as far as throwing herself against the bars as she tried to grab Hoskins.
Instead of noticing the danger he was in, he foolishly started taunting the raptors. Echo's sickle claw tapped against the ground as she stared him down. Obviously wanting to stab him with it.
“Stop that.”
He pushed the man away and was shoved in return.
“I’ll do what I want.”
Hoskins continued taunting the angry raptors, which made all four of them press against the bars as they tried to reach him. The air was thick with tension, yet Hoskins ignored it. He pushed past him and walked onto the catwalk. He grabbed a net and placed food inside. He yelled at him to stop, already knowing what was about to happen. Barry did the same, along with everyone else who worked there.
Hoskins ignored them, thinking he knew better, and lowered the large stick. It was barely halfway to the ground when Delta jumped up and snagged it. She happily pulled him inside, causing Hoskins to scream.
Around him, people panicked, and he told security to lower their weapons. He wasn’t going to let his girls get shot just because Hoskins is an asshole who chose to taunt raptors.
He watched as all four of them surrounded Hoskins. Their eyes gleamed with hatred, and nothing he said or did could stop them. He watched as all four of them pounced and ripped the man to shreds
It was a grisly sight, and someone nearby gagged, almost throwing up. When the girls finished their meal, they seemed very satisfied. Charlie pushed a hand against the bar, wanting him to join them in their feast. This time, someone did throw up, and he shook his head, letting her eat his hand.
After his death, an investigation took place. It was ruled an accident with Hoskins to blame. They also discovered his assassination attempt when he hired two hit men to kill him. He was relieved his girls wouldn’t be punished and also a little proud. Although he didn’t approve of their methods, he was glad he didn’t have to deal with him anymore.
