Work Text:

“I can’t believe it has to end like this,” Kuroo sniffles as he stands next to Bokuto. His knuckles are whitening from how hard he grips onto his suitcase.

Tsukishima frowns for a moment, but ultimately steps back, away from Kuroo’s reach.

“Don’t make it harder than it has to be,” Akaashi shakes his head.

He puts a hand behind the small of Tsukki’s back. That’s when Bokuto starts crying too.

“Please don’t cast me away. I still love you,” Bokuto literally falls to his knees before the two men.

“There is no space for you here. You have to understand,” Akaashi tells them, stone-cold, no mercy.

“But what about us? What about all the memories?” Kuroo demands an answer. Bokuto lets out a wail from the floor.

“You will always have a special place in our hearts,” Akaashi assures them. He has a hard time looking at the devastated pair, but what needs to be done needs to be done.

“Please, don’t be difficult now. You will have Bokuto,” Tsukki tries to cut the argument short.

“Fate made us separate this way, so that’s how it’s supposed to be,” Akaashi says, his voice carrying a tone that says his words are final.

But Kuroo is not done.

“Fate? Is this what it’s called now?” Kuroo lets out a bitter laugh, messing up his hair even more than usual as he frustratedly runs fingers through it. “We all know what you did to get where you are, you cheater.”

Akaashi raises an eyebrow at him. “I won over Tsukishima with honor. You should take care of your boyfriend instead of making such baseless accusations.”

“You are making a scene. Both of you,” Tsukki crosses his arms, looking at Kuroo and Bokuto. “See? You two are meant for each other. Now, leave us alone.”

“So, is this really it?” Bokuto’s lips wobble as Tsukki and Akaashi take a couple steps back from them. “Are we... over?”

“It was your fault in the first place,” Akaashi casts an icy glance back and looks at Kuroo as his hands hover over the door handle.

The man tears up from the words. “I make one mistake,” his voice cracks as he gets the words out. “One mistake, and you will punish Bokuto and me like this?”

“Oh my God,” Tsukki finally speaks up, his patience finally snapping. “Can you stop acting like a child for 5 minutes? No, it’s on me to get together with people who are drama queens.” He rolls his eyes.

“How could you say that? Our relationship is falling apart and that’s the only thing you can add to the discussion?” Kuroo frowns.

“I. Had. Enough.” He emphasises each word. “I’m tired of this. I have no more energy listening to you argue.”

“Please just hear us out!” Bokuto, who is still on his knees, begs.

“No, I don’t want to hear from you anymore. I was driving the whole time here, while you were sleeping in the backseats. So now I will go into this room that I will share with Keiji.”

“Choose me instead of that cheater!” Bokuto wails.

“No, me!” Kuroo extends his arm towards Tsukishima.

“For the hundredth time, he won the Rock-Paper-Scissor square and fair, so he is rooming with me.”

“But he looked at me in such a way, I could only think about hard things, then he chose paper! Of course I lost!” Bokuto whines. Akaashi shakes his head.

“That was mental warfare,” Kuroo nods, backing up his boyfriend.

“All is fair in love and war,” Akaashi shrugs.

“If you’re done with your tantrum, I will put my stuff down and head to the wellness section to get a massage,” Tsukki finally opens the door to their room.

“I don’t want some random person to give you pleasure. Just let me make you feel good.”

“As soon as you get a massage license we can talk about it. But until then,” he steps into the room on the left. “Goodbye.”

And with that he slams the door shut leaving the 3 men in the hallway of the hotel.

They just silently look where the blond was just a second ago, but before either of them could snap out of it, the door opens revealing him again.

“You do realise that this whole scene was for nothing,” Tsukki states with a stoic face.

“Next thing you will say that my love for you was for nothing too,” Kuroo pouts.

“The two rooms are connected. They even share a balcony.”

“Now that you mention that, maybe something like that was mentioned when I booked the hotel,”  Kuroo agrees.

“So why were you surprised when we got 2 rooms?” Akaashi questions.

“I forgot,” he shrugs.

“How can you forget it?” Bokuto asks him.

“I booked it months ago. Stuff happens, life happens.”

“You booked it like 2 weeks ago,” Tsukishima deadpans.

“Who are you? The time police?”
