Joel and Jimmy sit on the bread bridge, legs handing off, watching the server below.
Joel is green and Jimmy is yellow.
The air is fresh up here in the sky.
Jimmy’s canary wings twitch behind him, ruffling as he relaxes, Joel’s steady presence next to him.
“It’s so pretty from up here.” Joel chuckles, “It almost makes you forget what’s going to come in the next few weeks.” he sighs.
Jimmy chuckles, biting his lip, memories of the past games-dying first every time- flash through his mind but one face sticks out in his mind.
“Joel?” Jimmy says.
“Yeah mate?” Joel asks, turning to look at Jimmy, his eyes, the colour of warm warm brownies cooling on the counter at home.
Jimmy’s heart does a little swoop at the sight.
Jimmy clears his throat, cheeks tinting pink at the words he’s about to speak.
“I know I’m not going to last long in these games and I was wondering if I…Could I kiss you?” Jimmy asks, face burning hot with embarrassment, heart pounding in his ear so loud he almost does not hear it.
“Yes.” Joel says.
Jimmy blinks at the human in slight disbelief, “I-I can?”
Joel nods his head, “are you going to or do you want me to?” Joel chuckles, grinning.
The avian blushes even harder, leaning in towards the brunet.
Jimmy’s lips catch his and it feels electric, like nothing Jimmy’s ever felt before.
When Joel pulls away Jimmy has to catch his breath.
Joel smiles, “If I knew all it took to make you breathless was one kiss, I would have done it a long time before now.”
Jimmy chuckles, flustered, “That was amazing.” he admits.
“You're a pretty good kisser.” Joel states, “Got a lot of practice with Smajor back in 3rd life?”
Jimmy shakes his head, “You…you're my first.”
“Ohh.” Joel says quietly before, grinning, “Can I be your second too?”
The avian’s eyes go wide at the human’s words.
He tries to speak but no words come out, so instead he nods his head.
Joel leans back in, cupping the back of Jimmy’s head with his hand, supporting his weight with the other on the bridge below them.
Jimmy smiles into the kiss, closing his eyes, enjoying the way Joel feels, smells, tastes, sounds, and how he just is .
Jimmy’s in love with everything about him.
He’ll understand in 3 seasons just how much Joel loves him back, truly accepting their love for what it is.
