Work Text:
Harry could tell as soon as he woke up that his brain had entered a depressive episode.
His mind and body felt heavy, and a profound emptiness made itself apparent in his heart. Any motivation to get up or make breakfast or do literally anything was right out the window. The most bearable options were to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling or try to go back to sleep.
When Russell awoke and turned over to look at his boyfriend, he immediately recognized the dead look in the blonde's eyes.
"Depressive episode, love?" he asked, receiving a weak, miserable nod in response. Russell hummed in understanding. "I know you probably don't wanna do all that much, and you do not have to, but do you think you could at least sit in the kitchen while I make breakfast? I don't think it's good for you to just rot in bed all day"
"It's not like I'm trying to feel like this"
"I know, sorry" Russell shook his head. "I just mean it might make you feel worse if you don't at least stretch your muscles a bit"
It took a great deal of patience and gentle encouragement (and promises of pancakes), but Russell was eventually able to coax the blonde out of bed.
Harry wasn't even properly dressed, only wearing his pajama pants, but the fact of the matter was that he was out of bed and moving, so Russell took it as a win.
The activity didn't magically fix Harry's depression but, as Russell had predicted, it did help him at least feel a bit more human.
Eventually, Harry's mind and body decided enough was enough and he retreated back to his bed, but Russell was proud of him nonetheless and did his best to comfort Harry and support him through the episode.
