The World of Remnant-13477

Summary:

Remnant-13477 is vastly different from the one we know in canon.

Will be updated later.

Chapter 1: Points of Divergence

Summary:

A look into where the Points of Divergence of Remnant-13477 are in its history and how it would send ripples across the timeline.

Notes:

I decided to give the Brother Gods different names in order to highlight their differences.

Huidi means light in Chinese and reflecting his draconic form's East Asian aesthetic.

Lugus is the closest ancient European name to mean darkness, referencing his traditional European dragon form.

Chapter Text

Might as well as start out with the point of divergence: the Ancient Era of Remnant (then known as Terra) nearly ended with deception as Salem deceived a significant number of world leaders into leading an army inside the Sanctum of Light to confront the Brother Gods. Referring to themselves as Huidi and Lugus, the two were immediately confronted by the vengeful Salem alongside those she deluded into following her upon arrival. As per canon, it gets heated and escalates when the God of Light fails to calm the people down, leading to Lugus to intercept the magic attacks. This is where events diverge, a group of entities who will be identified later intervene and reveal Salem's deception to all who are present, horrifying her allies. While somewhat impressed by Salem's ruthlessness, Lugus is nevertheless disgusted by the sinner's nihilism so he decides to stands down in order to spite the cursed immortal for nearly making him condemn humanity to death on global scale. Huidi is furious at the action but retains his stoicism in spite of the deception while the heads of states were livid, having their men surround the witch.

After some deliberation, the monarchs among the statesman would cut down Salem and have the Brother Gods banish her from the Sanctum of Light, who is then forbidden from entering the Domain for the rest of her eternal life. Of course, she will not concede because of intense hatred towards them for robbing Salem of her happy ending and so will find other ways to spite them.

Chapter 4: Britannia, the Juggernaut of Choice and Royalty

Summary:

Remaining as a intercontinental juggernaut in Eos and all of Remnant, the United Kingdom of Great Britannia is a multicultural powerhouse that has survived the test of time multiple times over.

Chapter Text

Born within the crucible of Britannia Isles and Sanus, the United Kingdom of Great Britannia, Victoria, and Albion is an nation borne from strife and compromise as well as many traditions blended with democracy. Located off the coast of Europa and to the west of non-UK Sanus territories and Vytal, the UK has withstood many challenges but typically came out and recovered from every single one. Initially centered around the eponymous islands, the nation was formed as an absolute monarchy with Roman Republic (later Empire) backing, led by the short-lived Eowyn Dynasty which would fall after the Iceni rebelled in retaliation for their Roman allies broke an agreement and humiliated Queen Boudicca. The Eowyn Dynasty would eventually collapse and plunge the isles into chaos as the Roman Empire steadily marched towards their own slow death,

Chapter 5: Mistral, the Dragon of Anima

Summary:

Lauded as the Dragon King of the Eos, the Empire of Mistral has lost much since the Second Great War's end, including much of its teeth. Now, though, Mistral seems to be on the resurgence but is now subject to both an immense crime wave and being harassed by neo-colonial ambitions as well as haunted by a sinister conspiracy hiding beneath the surface.

Chapter Text

Named for the ancient goddess of life, Anima is a diverse and dangerous continent that is located in-between Europa, Verusa, and Asia, being influenced by many cultures from both landmasses. This can be seen in the continental hegemon: the Empire of Mistral, which is a fusion of empires in Far East Asia, Middle Eastern kingdoms, and Greco-Roman states born amidst the chaos of the Great Cataclysm, as refugees from all regions came to the land. Integrating with native civilizations and tribes,

Chapter 6: Atlas, the Titan of the North

Summary:

Atlas, in my universe, has existed long before the Mantlean Empire and has something of a rivalry with this universe's United Kingdom (which includes Vale) dating back to ancient times.

Chapter Text

Solitas, has always been a harsh and sometimes unforgiving land, located in the far northern reaches of Eos (the expansive shattered supercontinent that would emerge out of the Great Cataclysm that saw the end of the many, now mythical civilizations) was initially only settled by nomadic tribes and small settlements. These were established by the variety of native peoples, immigrants, early colonists, and refugees who survived the cold of Solitan winters and relentless Grimm incursions through acts of resilience and ingenuity. Millennium before the devastation of the Second Great War, Solitas would be settled by disparate peoples fleeing the expansionism of the Vale and Imperial Britannia, predominantly those Illosians who refused to bow before either nation who would establish themselves in Fort Sanctuary and what would become Mantle City. Leveraging the great reserves of Dust (among other natural resources) and technological innovations to thrive in Solitas' harsh environment, the bedrock of a new civilization was laid around fortified cities. A few centuries of feudal rulership would see the rise of the Kingdom of Mantle and the Empire of Atlas emerge as the dominant powers in Solitas, their early successes would attract a great deal of attention from the Great Empires—Imperial Britannia, Vale, Mistral, France, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Holy Roman Empire, and Vacuo. The great powers saw Solitas as a frontier for expansion and resource exploitation.

All of this happened during the Colonial Era, several colonies were established across Solitas, mostly by Imperial Britannia, Vale (before Vale became a constituent state of the island nation), and Mistral with some Vacuan and mainland Europa influences. They were assisted in this endeavor by Atlas and Mantle in a bid to maintain their independence, but sacrificing a degree of territorial ambitions. All of these colonies were founded to exploit Solitas' rich natural resources and strategic coastal areas, would later evolve into distinct cultural and political entities over the course of history. While Mantle would betray Atlas to Britannian wrath during the Seven Years War, this would lead to the sparks of revolution that would be ignited by the ideas from the nascent United States being laid by King Johann's treachery. Through a variety of means, these Solitian colonies would gain independence from their mother nations or being abandoned due to the chaos of the First Great War that followed the American Revolution, going out on their own paths.

Among the oldest of these were Indrik and Snezhnaya, the former was a joint Russian-Mistralian-Eridanian-Olympas colony that intermingled with native tribes and the various local monarchies. Snezhnaya, on the other hand, was formally established by both Russian and German states including refugees from a war-torn Khaenri'ah. By the time of the First Great War, both were major powers in their own right, throwing off the colonial governors and joining the newly formed Atlantic Federation to push back the Eos Imperial Alliance in Europa alongside the German Reich. Prosperous even amidst a world plagued by the Grimm, both would come to quickly possess advanced infrastructure and fierce martial traditions would transform Snezhnaya and Indrik into regional powers, although Indrik would be marred by violent uprisings and revolutions throughout its history. In spite of these upheavals, Indrik's inheritance of a strong Russian-based culture and resilience against both the Creatures of Grimm and human conflicts have earned it vast respect as a cornerstone of Atlas' power structure. The Empire of Snezhnaya, similarly influenced by Imperial Russia, would earn worldwide renown for its many technological successes and military power as well as its contribution to Operation Sovereign Mandate, the campaign to grind the Grimm down to manageable numbers post-Second Great War.

Other colonies that joined with Mantle-Atlas, Snezhnaya and Indrik were:

  • The Republic of Boreas
  • The Commonwealth of Sedna
  • The Republic of Liberon and Vesperia
  • The Kingdom of Rana Niejta
  • The Serene Republic of Midgard
  • The Federal Republic of Chorus
  • The Kingdom of Solus da Terra
  • The Confederation of Volos
  • The Republic of Columbia
  • The Republic of Garmoniya
  • The Kingdom of Septemagros
  • The Federal State of Ruthenia
  • And, to a lesser extent, the territories that would become the Republic of Meridian

Mantle, now the central power of Solitas, began organize and consolidate these former colonies into a loose supranational federation, to coordinate defense against the Grimm and help manage Solitas' resources known as the Atlesian Union and centered around the Holy Mantlean Empire. However, tensions began to arise as Mantle's increasingly authoritarian tendencies clashed with the diverse governance systems of its fellow constituent states, allies, protectorates, and colonies. These affairs would come to ahead with the 1925 fascist takeover of Mantle and the failed counter-coup by Solitan leaders that occured four years before the outbreak of the Second Great War, the accusations of the politico-military led cabal that Britannia supported the rebellion. In the aftermath, Mantle and its vast empire would immediately withdraw from the Atlantic Federation, aligning themselves with the rapidly emerging Northern Axis, accelerating their rearmament campaigns and economic recoveries. Mantle would also tighten its decades-long alliance with the Empire of Mistral.

The Second Great War and the Miraculous Rebirth of Atlas

At its onset, the Second Great War (which began about 88 years and ended 78 years before the events of RWBY Alter) was a pivotal turning point in Atlesian history, that would eventually see the downfall of the ruling dictatorship. As a leading empire at the time, Mantle and its wider empire would ally with Mistral and the Northern Axis against the United Kingdom and European Union's Atlantic Federation, further escalated by Vacuo's entrance into the conflict with the Allied Powers. Driven by territorial ambitions and a desire to control global trade routes of the seven seas, the Lord Marshal Elias Koenig also wished to spread Utopianism: the philosophy of suppression and control of emotions to prevent Grimm attacks. Mantle enjoyed early victories across Remnant thanks to its initial technological superiority, a standard foster amongst the Northern Axis, including what would become the foundation of future airships and jet fighters as well as a leader in Dust/elemental energy-enhanced weaponry.

But an array of strategic and tactical blunders would see Axis be put on the backfoot, most notorious was the betrayal of the Soviet Union by fascist leaders in Imperial Germany and EIA as well as the Japanese-Mistralian defeat at Hawaii. What would be the most influential, however, was the sudden rise of United Atlas, a militarized rebel movement and government-in-exile at the war's beginning. United Atlas would attempt an ambitious coup to remove Elias Koenig and the True Pacem political party from power but would first seize control of half of Mantle's colonial empire, this along with the large-scale defection of Mantlean military forces, officers, and politicians to the Allies. This meant that after the coup's failure, the rebels would take time to reorganize and consolidate their occupied territories alongside Britannian forces, calling for a new revolution. Led by reform and democratic-minded officials, spearheaded by Presidential hopeful Valerie Kerensky and IMGF Field Marshal Johnathan Eisenholz. Both were prominent Atlesian liberals and restorationists, seeking to restore Atlas as its own nation and to elevate Emperor of Atlas as the sovereign monarch of the nation under a constitutional monarchy.

Rebellion and insurrection were the least of the True Pacem government’s concerns, as the Britannians, Soviets, Pan Eosian Federation, and, later, Americans were quick to catch up or move ahead in technological and weapons development. Not only that, the home front quickly began to feel the strain of a total war on multiple fronts and the people felt the effects of this destructive war even though the allies were focused on securing Europa before targeting Mantle. Indrik and Sedna provided significant military and naval support, while Rana Niejta and Hyperborea contributed many resources and fighters. Snezhnaya, in spite of growing resentment towards Mantle, would supply the empire with technological innovations and advanced weaponry. Midgard, on the other hand, leveraged its corporate influences to profit from massive weapons and tech exports, causing increased friction with Imperial central government in Mantle City. All the while, Mantle would continue support its partners and allies as well as begin preparing for a series of monumental campaigns, even after the defection of the Haus Schnee-led Coalition for Liberty and Justice to United Atlas.

Which would culminate in the Vacuo Campaign, Mantle alone would suffer immense casualties to the even more harsh environment of Vacuo, before succumbing utter defeat following the emancipation of Emperor Maxim III by United Atlas and Britannian forces. Lord Marshal Koenig would flee to Mantle City and bunker down, refusing to surrender to the allies and cracking down on 'defeatist' thoughts, this act of madness plunged Mantle into full-fledge civil war. Snezhnaya joined the rebellion first, moving into nearby Mantle territories and seizing them, anticipating the Holy Mantlean Empire's collapse through the Fatuus. Boreas, Osea, and Midgard followed suit, quickly joined by Volos in their revolt against the Lord Marshal, whilst also would supporting a insurrection in the Meridian territories.

Seemingly foreseeing the worst outcome, Britannian Emperor George VI and United States President Truman dispatched Allied military forces to invade Mantle while Marines and detachments of other armies would support the ongoing rebellions. The most of famous intervention was the one in the Republic of Columbia where a large Allied airborne force, reinforced by defecting Axis paratroopers, would drop into the capital and oust the puppet government ruling the fellow republic following the failed 1936 coup. A final showdown would occur in Mantle's capital, where United Atlas-led forces would push into the Caelum Province, liberating the Sovereign Palace in between Mantle City and Atlasdelphia, freeing the royal family. Following this, allied forces would push into Mantle City in an Western Allies recreation of Berlin's fall, directed at the Imperial Assembly building which had become True Pacem's headquarters after Koenig dissolved the civilian government, surrounding the grand city to ensure that no one would escape. With Hydra remnants mixed in with Pacem Forces, the allies would take heavy casualties but they eventually reached the Imperial Assembly building.
