We climb mountains of canaries
dead in their cage
The world burns
and homework is due,
laundry piles,
and dishes sit in the sink
waiting
and the world still burns
warning signs pile up
until we no longer remember
what the warning was about
but bills are paid
and groceries bought
because life goes on
even when it feels like it can't
we hide under covers
wondering what is next
stretch your arms out
find each other
it's not in vain
support each other and take support
reforge this community that is taken from us,
shredded
and rebuild our home
