Work Text:
Fingers pressed together in the same way Shikamaru’s fingers pressed together, his eyes narrowed as he studied the stranger dressed almost entirely in black, a grey scarf wrapped around his neck as he peered through the strange goggles.
Contemplating his options, he sneaked his shadows around behind the man to freeze the stranger, resulting in the man—
“What the…” the man in question said as he found himself incapable of moving and for a moment—
For a moment, Shikamaru thought he could hold the stranger off, only—
He felt something, as if his shadows—
And then the man moved forward, no longer captured by Shikamaru’s shadows, moving forward and throwing out a kick which Shikamaru dodged by jumping back, trying to think far enough ahead, quickly deciding he should retreat to rethink his options, throwing out a couple of kunai at the man only—
The man dodged, and his scarf—
Turned out the scarf was some capture device Shikamaru hadn’t expected, and he stood there frozen, unable to move, glaring at the man.
“That was a very interesting Quirk?”
“A what?” Shikamaru said, confusion setting in.
The man tugged at his scarf, capturing the device. “How can you not know what a Quirk is?”
Shikamaru stared, eyes wide, making note of what the man just said. “This isn’t the usual situation I deal with.”
“Well?”
Shikamaru let out a sigh and said, “What a drag?”
The man looked at him, an eyebrow shooting up above his goggles. “Agreed.”
“He’s like an alternate me,” Shikamaru sighed. “To which I’m screwed.”
Because this was an adult alternative to him.
“Hopefully someone else will show up,” Shikamaru thought, not wanting to give the man the pleasure of answering his question.
