Love sabotage

Summary:

Kieran just wanted to do something he loves, relax for just one day... And then there's his boyfriend, sabotaging the moment.

Notes:

My original language is not English, I repeat... I'm still new, please.

(After writing things about an obsessed Mason, let's get back to the cute stuff... Is what I wrote now cute or humorous? I don't know... It sounded better in my language, I swear... Sorry. ಥ‿ಥ)

Work Text:

Kieran had planned to spend the day doing something he truly enjoyed… painting. Early in the morning, with the sunlight softly filtering through the curtains, he calmly set everything up: brushes, palettes, paints, canvases... He even prepared a cup of blood for the occasion, to sip on while he worked. Today he was inspired, he wanted to let his mind flow freely, to paint something born from the deepest corners of his imagination.

And for a moment, everything was perfect.

Until he showed up.

Mason Kane, his boyfriend and, unfortunately on occasion, the clingiest werewolf on the planet…

Kieran had barely drawn the first lines on the canvas when he felt a shadow move behind him and then came the classic dramatic sigh of a misunderstood werewolf, complete with soft barks and playful nibbles, like a dog begging for attention. Mason’s wolf form circled around him; more puppy than predator, tail wagging like it had a mind of its own.

—Painting again, Ki?—

Mason drawled the words like someone had just told him there would be no more full moons ever again... if you catch my drift.

Kieran didn’t answer, brush in hand, eyes locked on his canvas.

Mason, in true emotionally-dependent-canine fashion, literally crawled over to him, rubbing his large body against Kieran’s back like an oversized dog with no concept of personal space. His ears twitched eagerly.

—Don't you wanna pet me for a bit?—

He asked, voice deep and playful, laced with that familiar mix of flirtation and fun.

Mason even lay down on the floor, resting his head on Kieran’s knees.

—I promise I don’t drool that much...—

He added, putting on his best puppy eyes. This time, he even perked up his ears for extra effect.

Kieran narrowed his eyes, holding back a laugh. His dignity at that point was thinner than tissue paper.

—Are you trying to seduce me with puppy eyes?—

He asked without turning around.

The wolf huffed and backed off... just a little. Barely a shuffle, but it counted.

Mason didn’t say anything else. He just intensified the look, Bright, pleading. An emotional attack aimed straight at the heart. Not his own, obviously Kieran’s, which, technically, didn’t beat... But still managed to hurt all the same.

Kieran sighed, defeated. He picked up one of the small cloths he used to clean his hands already stained with burgundy and midnight blue and, with a neutral expression, placed it over Mason’s face, covering his eyes.

The wolf’s ears drooped… almost comically.

—Much better. Now I don’t have to see your furry face...—

Kieran murmured.

—Hey!—

Mason protested, shaking his head like a dog fresh out of water.

—That was cruel! I came to give you love and you censor me like a Greek statue!—

—I’m censoring your ridiculous level of cuteness.—

Kieran replied with a half-yawn.

—It’s a threat to my productivity.—

—I am your muse! I’m your sexy werewolf muse!—

Kieran dropped the brush, he turned and gave Mason a look so intense that even he, the undisputed king of shamelessness, went quiet for exactly three seconds. A world record, honestly.

—My muse?—

The vampire repeated, arms crossed, an amused smile on his face.

—My muse doesn’t interrupt me every five minutes asking if he can hug me, my muse doesn’t bark when I ignore him...—

Mason made an offended face, baring just a little too much teeth.

Pure drama.

—I barked once! ONCE, Kieran! It was a reflex!—

—And then you bit my pants.—

Kieran added, raising an eyebrow.

Mason shrugged and let out another dramatic huff.

—I had to, you looked way too good all focused like that... I had to sabotage you just a little.—

Kieran couldn’t help smiling, despite himself. Even if he denied it, he liked it, he liked that fuzzy, adorable chaos, he liked the interruptions, the melodrama, even the well-rehearsed puppy eyes.

—Five minutes.—

He said at last.

—I’ll give you five minutes of cuddles, then you let me paint in peace or you’re going a whole month without sex.—

Mason’s triumphant smile vanished at that last part, even his ears drooped further, for a moment, his expression was pure devastation like the world was ending.

Still, he recovered quickly.

Didn’t waste a second.

Mason shifted back into his human form and immediately launched himself into Kieran’s arms, wrapping him in a warm, enveloping hug. The kind that made Kieran forget just how cold the world and his own skin could feel.

—Deal!—

The werewolf murmured, burying his nose in Kieran’s neck.

—You’re the hottest, most talented, grumpiest vampire in the entire damn universe.—

—And you’re the most ridiculous werewolf I’ve ever met.—

—Ridiculously irresistible?—

—Don’t start, please...—

Kieran gave him a longer look, frowning suddenly.

—Mason… you’re naked.—

—Oops… transformation things...—

—...Oh, for God’s sake...—

Notes:

I love Mason, he just needs cuddles from his grumpy boyfriend...
