~As he moves through the palace and interacts with soldiers and his family, Hailstorm wrestles with loyalty, justice, and moral dilemmas. He notices boys in ways that surprise him, thinks about romance and intimacy, and quietly questions everything he thought he knew about himself. The world around him —military rules, royal expectations, Skywings —is rigid and harsh, while inside he battles trauma, self-doubt, and forbidden desires.~
~The story explores identity, orientation, trauma, mental health, and forbidden feelings, mixing royal politics, friendship, love, and self-discovery. Hailstorm is trying to figure out who he is while carrying the weight of the past and the pressures of being a prince.~
