Chapter Text
Nagi stood there looking up at the dormitory building. People entering and leaving with family by their side. The big banner above the doors with the words “WELCOME!”. He looked down at the box between his feet, an envelope filled with money sits on top of it. He let out a sigh and mumbled, “This is such a hassle”
He reached down, grabbed the box and headed into the dorm building to check in. He waited in line for 30 minutes which felt like an eternity to him. He eventually sat on the floor and closed his eyes, “Uhm dude you're next” a voice behind him said as a fellow student tapped on Nagi's shoulder, “hm?” Nagi slowly opened his eyes and looked up, “oh..” he thought to himself before he got up from the floor and gently pushed the box forward, “May I have your name-” He cut the front desk lady off, “Seishiro Nagi.” She gave him a small look before nodding and typing on the computer. There was one thing Nagi wanted at this moment and it was to take a nap. After 2 minutes of typing and scrambling through papers she handed him a sheet with highlighted parts which he signed quickly. Next thing you knew, she handed him the key to his room, “Thank you” Nagi said softly as he took the key from her hand and headed to the elevators. He unlocked the door, “I'm glad I got a single dorm” he said to himself with a sigh.
Nagi didn't want to share his personal space with anyone. He believed some people were too much and he didn't mind being alone. He actually enjoyed it.
He pushed the box with his foot again until it made it all the way in the room.
The sun shined brightly through the window. It's so grey here, the colors are so dull…that's how everything looks for Seishiro either way so there is no difference.
He opened the box which only had a blanket, a pillow stuffed into it and his container of pills which he didn't take. He threw the pillow onto the bed then dragged the blanket with him as he flopped onto the bed and fell asleep.

Usually I don't dream. I just see darkness. Not this time…
I was walking down a hall, I couldn't tell if this was a school hallway or not. Everything was blurry and there was no color to anything. I stopped in my tracks as I saw something at the end of the hallway. A person, “Hey, nagi…” he spoke out which made me freeze and tense up a bit. How does he know my name? He started walking away down the hall. Something happened right there. My body…it was moving on its own. I was following him, “Wait…” I let out but he didn’t turn back around. We made it to a dead end of the building. A big window.
He turned and smiled at me. That was the only facial feature I could make out. His smile.
Color slowly started appearing.
-
He quickly sat up. His heart was racing. What the hell was that… he thought to himself
His thoughts were interrupted as his stomach rumbled a bit. He looked down and frowned slightly. That's when he realized…he didn't bring any food from home…he grabbed the packet that the front desk lady gave him, ‘Guide to the dorms’.
Ah there's a market down the street.
Nagi slowly put on his shoes and jacket before stepping out of the dorm room. Once he stepped foot out of the building the cool fall air hit his face. He pulled the hood over his head and walked down the street to the market. People walk by with their friends, laughing and smiling, grocery bags in their hands, “Let's play a card game when we get back” one of them spoke as they passed by Nagi.
He never really enjoyed the thought of having people stick by your side and be extremely clingy. People are loud…having friends seems like such a hassle. That's why he prefers being alone. He doesn't necessarily need anyone.
He was used to it either way…
Nagi finally entered the market and walked around for a bit looking at the isles. He placed a few instant ramens in my shopping basket and then he reached the fridge section. Jello… ‘doesn't sound so bad’ he thought to himself before reaching over and grabbing a few packets…maybe too many. He shrugs. Oh well.
He walked towards the cashier and waited in line. A lot of other students were here buying groceries as well.
The time was currently 4 pm. He will most likely eat, finish leveling up on the new game he downloaded and then go back to bed. He paid for his items then left the market. As he walked his eye slowly looked over to the left and that's when he saw a window displayed with little cactuses and many other plants.
No one has bought any.
The owners who seemed like an elderly couple were slowly closing. He should have left over money and he doesn't have anything else to spend it on. After standing there for a few seconds he slowly entered the plant shop. The two elders looked over at Nagi and he gave them a small bow before walking to the cactus, he gently reached over for the one in the center.
“I guess you can be my only friend.” Nagi said softly to the cactus. Making sure the owners didn't hear.
When he reached the hallway to my room there were some guys waiting outside a door a few rooms down. They were being loud.
“I still don't know why reo doesn't want to be friends with us”
“He's a spoiled brat why would we need him either way”
“His status. He's popular dude”
“Yeah but he doesn't have any friends. He doesn't seem to care for anyone in specific…dude doesnt realize people only want to get close to him because of his money”
Nagi was overhearing their conversation as he unlocked the door to the room. Gossiping over other people, Seishiro never understood why people did that stuff. Gossiping, trying to get the attention of others, finding love… all of those things are just too much work and a hassle.
He took off his shoes at the entrance and then fully stepped into the room. Letting the warm air hit him as he shut the door behind him. He quickly stored away the food and warmed up some water for the bowl of ramen he had bought. Nagi gently placed down his new and only friend on the window. It fits perfectly. Just enough space. He grabbed the little book, ‘How to take care of a cactus’. It was right beside the cashier when he was checking out so he decided to buy it. Afterall, he never cared for a plant before this so it would be good if he understood it better. Reading through a small section of the book Nagi already learned a good amount of stuff about his new friend. The timer went off telling him that the water was ready. “If I'm going to eat, so should you,” Nagi let out softly as he walked over to the sink and poured water into a cup. He walked back to the window and poured a little bit of water into the pot the cactus sat in.
“Dinner time.”
The next day - 6 am
The alarm went off and the bright light from the sun hit him straight in the eyes. Nagi let out a small groan as he rubbed his eyes and sat up in bed, “I have school in an hour and thirty minutes. I can sleep a bit more…” he mumbled
7:10 am
It went off again for the third time. He groaned and turned to reach for his phone. Oh shoot. He quickly got up and got ready, “wish me luck on my first day” he spoke softly to the cactus as he pushed the curtains a bit more open so it got sunlight and then he took off.
Nagi walked up the stairs to his first class. The second he sat down in his chair, he put his head down on the table trying to catch his breath, “so much work…” Nagi mumbled against the desk.
“Good morning reo!” “Ohhh its reo!” “reo, what are you doing here” everyone in the class started greeting someone. Nagi slowly turned to see who they were making all this commotion about.
A boy, about 6ft, a bright smile. His eyes are big and a pretty shade of purple, “Got ordered to drop these off for your teacher” the boy spoke as he set down some papers on the desk. As he turned to walk out of the class his eyes landed on Nagi. They held eye contact for a split second before Reo walked off.
‘What the hell was that…” Nagi thought to himself.
-
When Reo returned to his classroom and sat down he turned to his classmate sitting next to him, “is there a new kid attending this school?” Reo asked as he rested his chin on his hand, “huh? Not that I know of. Why do you ask?” his classmate responded. Reo shrugged and shook his head, “eh…it's nothing”.

It was his last class of the day and Nagi found himself thinking about the guy from earlier. For some odd, strange reason he couldn't stop, ‘this is such a strange feeling’ he thought to himself before planting his head on his desk followed by a yawn.
Was it that he was yearning for someone? Yearning for a friend?...He never wanted such a thing. So why does he feel this way? What is this emotion that suddenly took over his body?
