Work Text:
You had thought about it for a while. Giving up your hair that almost reached your hips, just shaving it all off. For you, it meant new beginnings, giving up the old to be able to bloom. You had hesitated, wondering if you’d regret it, if it would be too radical, if you would get weird looks. But once you just… did it, it all those feelings disappeared and instead you felt liberated, even. That was a feeling you hadn’t expected honestly.
The first person who’d see you with your new hair, or lack of hair, was your boyfriend — you really mostly met him at night in your dreams, he was rarely available at daytime so you had just resulted to go on dates in your dreams. That was a good choice, though, as he was able to give you absolutely anything you could dream of for a date.
But you didn’t really expect him to notice or mention your new style, to be honest. It may have sounded silly, but he had so much on him, seen much grander things, so shaving a head shouldn’t be anything surprising to him. Hair grows back, when galaxies and stars die forever.
But that night, when you visited The Dreaming and stepped into his palace, he stopped you right by the main gates.
“Your hair,” he murmured, carefully hovering his hand over your head. “You have shorn it off.”
You nodded. “I didn’t think you’d notice, to be honest. But yeah, I think it was time for change. Uh… do you like it?”
“It does not diminish your beauty,” he replied, smiling gently. “I would say it rather brings out your features better now that your face is not shrouded.”
You beamed at him at that, leaning into his touch so he could run his hand over the stubble on your head. He did it a few times, before he leaned forward, meeting your forehead with his. “You are even more stunning than you were, and that is something I thought would be impossible.”
You smiled, lifting your hands up to rest them on his biceps. “You’re making me blush.”
He chuckled. “Good. It means I am doing something right.”
