“This is starting to sound less like a wedding and more like old home day,” Chris joked, checking his own phone. “Jill and Carlos got held up on their mission in Africa, but they’re bringing Sheva with them. Also tomorrow morning.”
Claire let out a low whistle. “Lots of people. Why do I have the feeling something’s going to go tits up?”
“Because it always does,” Krauser said wryly, fingers tightening almost imperceptibly around his mug; Leon knew how he felt about crowds, and made a mental note to keep an eye on him this weekend. “There’s no stopping it–just gotta figure out the when, where, and what.”
Chris nodded his agreement, and Leon felt him shift to nudge Jack’s foot with his own under the table. “Yep, and since Leon and I are the best men, it’s our job to keep whatever it turns out to be away from the happy couple, or Piers will never let me hear the fucking end of it.”
“Easier said than done,” Leon muttered.
He had no idea how true those words would wind up being.
