Chapter Text
Thomas Jefferson walks into the office, already dreading the workload that Washington was sure to give him after the events of yesterday.
They had been in a meeting, and as usual where arguing, when Washington seemed to finally have had enough seeing as he slammed his hands down on the table and exclaimed, “do you too ever shut the fuck up?!”
Up to that point the day had been pretty average, but Hamilton’s reaction to Washington’s anger is what Thomas really seems to be unable to stop thinking about…

Thomas blinks utterly surprised that Washington had finally snapped, seeing as he’d been putting up with his two employees bullshit for years at this point.
While Thomas is definitely unprepared for Washington; a generally calm, wise, and patient man, acting in the way that he did to Thomas and Alexander who at this point is closer to their bosses son than an employee. Alexander somehow manages to make him feel even more shocked.
For a few seconds Alexander just stands there, completely still, barely breathing. If someone were to walk by without knowing the man they would almost think him to be a strangely realistic statue, but does Thomas know Alexander just staring wide eyed terrified at Washington is only the calm before the storm.
Thomas can see the moment something switches in Washington’s mind and suddenly he doesn’t even look angry anymore. Washington’s expression only seems to be filled with concern and care for his favorite employee.
Thomas watches Washington begin to walk up to Hamilton and try to put a comforting had on his shoulder, although the action seems to have the opposite of the desired affect.
Alexander is finally responding to something, but Thomas finds that the still silence was actually preferable when Hamilton flinches away from Washington so hard he practically falls. The man seems to not be fully present in the room, and all of Washington’s gentle words have no affect on him.
Washington seems at a loss for what to do, as does everyone else in the meeting room. Everyone just finds themselves staring absent mindedly at the panicking man, the feeling of helplessness in the room definitely is not helped when Alexander runs out of the entryway and slams the door to his office.
Washington just stands there seemingly unsure of a next course of action, as does everyone else in the room. No one was prepared to see the usually outspoken, obnoxious, loudmouth man so… vulnerable, so scared.

Thomas hadn’t seen Hamilton the rest of the day, and neither had anyone else that he asked. Not that he cares! Because since when has Thomas cared, and about his enemy of all people? No definitely not, he’s just bored without Hamilton’s constant bullshit to distract him, and just because he’s walking to Alexander’s office with a mostly black coffee, exactly how the man himself makes it, that’s doesn’t mean that he wants to make sure Alex is okay! Right??
But even Thomas could admit, just maybe, there may be more to Hamilton than meets the eye.
