Work Text:
Local folks know better than to enter the forest when night falls. Even by daylight they avoid her, for some dark memory or half-recalled dream always reminds them that she is alive.
Not teeming with wildlife, for no small, harmless creatures can be found in her vicinity, and no birds perch and sing on her gnarled and looming trees. Strange shadows move within her, and some folks claim to have heard the wailing of trapped spirits. Some even say that the giants, the hairy people, live within her confines, and she protects them.
She always watches, always waits, forever menacing.
