Silver remembered falling asleep to the comforting smell of grass, dirt and flowers. Sonic's smell. He remembered falling asleep on his caregiver's chest, snuggled up comfortably with a pacifier in his mouth. His favorite, the white one with blue stars on it. He remembered falling asleep to gentle humming and back strokes.
But when he woke up he was alone, only a lingering smell of Sonic left. The little quickly sat up, looking around the room for Sonic to no avail. His eyes brimmed with tears, grabbing his favorite bunny plushie and hugging it. Silver sniffled and hiccupped quietly as he sat in bed.
His ear twitched as he heard a sizzling noise. Curious, he blinked his tears away and got out of bed, walking to the door on tip toes to be quiet. He opened the door slowly, peeking a head out of it to see Sonic in the kitchen, quietly humming. The smell of eggs and bacon filled the air. The sight of his caregiver made Silver's tail wag, quickly pushing the door open and running up to sonic.
The hero noticed it the second the door opened wide. He turned his head with a grin. "Good morning, sleepy head! Is bunny eating with us today?" Silver smiled as the other hugged him and gave him the tiniest kisses, nodding into Sonic's chest. "Mhm, he's hungry."
With another kiss to his head, Sonic sent him off to sit at the already set table with his bunny as the food was almost ready. Silver did as he was told, waiting patiently. The two of them shared a slow, sweet morning, and they wouldn't have it any other way.
After all, as long as he had Sonic, he would never be alone.
