The New Wars
Book 4: Soldiers of the Empire
Second Bohandi Empire is on the backfoot. Grey menace commenced bold and devastating offensive, taking over Bohandi capital, Unity’s Haven, and trapping most of the Central Command on the planet.
Under command of Admiral Wal’ket, survivors retreated to the former Bohandi capital, New Bohus. There, a new Central Command has been established, composed of best soldiers from among the survivors.
Under leadership of this New Central Command, the Bohandi continue their fight against the Grey menace and Superbohandi deviants, and prepare to take back their capital…
Chapter 1
Ambush
A single Bohandi frigate was drifting through deep space. It was venting plasma and its lights were flickering.
– Status report! – said the captain, M’lek.
– Engines offline, weapons are at 50% – told the tactical officer, L’ep.
– Captain, I am reading a Superbohandi fleet incoming! – said the helmsman, R’ek.
Indeed, four horseshoe-shaped Superbohandi cruisers, accompanied by multiple smaller ships, exited hyperspace nearby. All those ships opened fire at the frigate.
– Excellent – M’lek said. – Bring everything online.
The frigate fired up all its engines, stopped venting plasma and opened fire with its weapons at full power. A moment later, 10 Bohandi cruisers (4 heavy and 6 light), accompanied by their own smaller ships, exited hyperspace nearby. Commodore Ga’la was standing on the bridge of the leading ship.
– Report – she said.
– As expected, our Superbohandi friends took the bait – the ship’s tactical officer said. – We’ve been in the perfect position to destroy them. We’ve cut them off from all sides.
– Excellent – she said. - All ships, open fire.
Bohandi ships opened fire at the Superbohandi ships. Their shields failed under constant fire and the Superbohandi ships were shredded to pieces.
-Commander Ga’la to captain M’lek – Ga’la said once the battle was over. – It’s done. Mission accomplished.
– I’m glad to hear that – M’lek said. – But, why did we have to be the bait again?
– You work best in this role – Ga’la said. – Besides, I’m not about to risk a bigger ship for this.
– Well, thanks, I guess – M’lek said.
– We all are soldiers of the Empire, M’lek – Ga’la said. – We all have roles to play. No part is insignificant.
-I guess that’s true, but I would like to live to see the end of this war – M’lek said.
–Don’t we all? - Ga’la said. – But we’II see…
