The New Wars
Book 5: Shadows of war
For a long time the Second Bohandi Empire was fighting a losing battle against Grey invaders and Superbohandi deviants. They even lost their capital, Unity’s Haven, to the Greys. However, they never stopped fighting. Both remaining Bohandi military forces, led by Admiral Wal’ker from New Bohus, and the Bohandi Resistance on Unity’s Heaven continued fighting. And eventually, together, they liberated the planet from the Grey forces and stopped the Superbohandi plot to destroy it. Their enemies suffered heavy losses but they still hold many planets in Bohandi space. And as the Bohandi prepare for their next moves, for a counteroffensive, a new threat is approaching the galaxy...
Chapter 1
Aftermath
Bohandi ships landed at the battered surface of Unity’s Heaven. The planet has been liberated but the war left multiple scars on the planet, and especially its biggest city. Many buildings were destroyed, many people were killed and many fires were started, some of which were still burning despite the efforts of the Bohandi firefighters. At least the district where the Central Command was now safe.
Admiral Wal'ker and Commodore Ga'la stepped out of their ship onto the landing pad. Bohandi and cephalods were walking all around them. Nearby, General F'al stepped out of his shuttle. J'ek, K'oma, F'lak, K'lep and W’pal were also coming toward them. Captain Ba’ga landed her fighter nearby and disembarked.
- I can’t believe we actually did it - Ba'ga said. - We freed our planet.
- Yes, and our enemies suffered worse casualties than we did - F'al said. - We finally won… Despite all the unexpected twists.
- Or maybe it was because of them - W’pal said.
- I think scholars and scientists will be analyzing this battle for the next 100 years - K’oma point.
- I’m sure of it - Wal'ker said. - But let’s turn our attention to this moment. General F'al, without you, things… would be much harder, at best.
- I did what had to be done - F'al said. - Someone had to do it. It wasn’t easy… Two months pretending to be a traitor, while betraying for real those I was working with.
- It was worth it - Wal'ker said.
- I know - F'al said.
- General, if you need to… take some rest, I can arrange that - Wal'ker said.
- No, I want to continue my work - F'al said. - I’ll rest when this war is over. If it ever will...
