Work Text:

In London, United Kingdom. It is year 2222, July 17. High school Juniors were having as much fun as they could before moving up, and the Seniors were studying hard for university.

Sidd Gino, Rayne Grim, Ash Flynn, Logan Shin, Laius Shin, & Rody Basil. A group of close friends, they all were going to a campsite due to having summer break.
They were all in their Junior Year of High School, 17 years of age. Sidd drove his friends to the camp site, his SUV being perfect for the mountains.

“Rich Meat, are we there yet?” Rayne couldn’t help but whine and complain due to being car sick.
The other three friends laughed loudly, still not used to being Sidd’s nickname that Rayne gave him.

“Eh? When did the both of you become close?” Laius raised an eyebrow, throwing the question at the two people in the car front.

Rayne joined the high school just a few months ago, so there were some questions being thrown around.

“Just now.” Sidd replied bluntly. The group of teens laughed loudly; Sidd wasn’t the type to make jokes.
Maybe he’s getting the hang of it.

“Ugh, such a bother.” Laius growled between his teeth.

“Come on, Lai, don’t be depressed.” Rody blew kisses to Laius.

It wasn’t a secret amongst the Juniors that Rody was interested in Laius. It still shocked some peers.

Rody is, as her last name suggested, majestic and calm, like someone who is of royalty. Ironically, she does have royal descendent in her blood, so no surprise there. She’s the Grand Duchess eldest daughter, making her a princess. Her behavior never disappointed her family, friends, professors, or classmates. She’s remarkably close with the Empress as well.

“Shut the hell up,” Laius leaned back and stretched.
“Instead of driving, couldn’t we just have used our teleportation devices? Even flying would’ve been better.”

“After 7 meters, let’s start walking.” Sidd said ignoring Laius’ words. “Exercise is good for our bodies; we are still semi-human.”

“I agree.” Logan spoke for the first time all day,
“Of course you would agree! You agree with anything Sidd wants.” Laius yelled at his older twin for being biased towards Sidd.

“Sorry, bro~” Logan pouted towards his younger brother.

The vehicle was filled with laughter from all sides, even from Ash.

Not long after, all five friends strolled up the hill, Rayne leading the group.

“We’re here.” Logan’s calm voice said as he pointed to the campsite that was a few feet ahead of them.
The other boys, who’s heads were held low, looked up in contentment. They’ve been walking for two minutes; they were all exhausted.

“You all truly have no physical strength.” Logan shook his head mockingly at the others.

“We were born with unique gifts, Logan. You train and we don’t.” Laius spat at his brother.

The atmosphere became rigid and gloomy. It was forbidden to mention Logan’s weak gifts.

“Yeah… sorry… ha.” Logan hurriedly walked head of the group and entered the camp house.

“Logan!!” Ash walked a few steps in the same direction before turning to Laius, “Why are you such a tosspot to your own damn brother!?” She yelled at Laius then returned to her chase.
“I… didn’t mean it.” Laius admitted through gritted teeth. He cared for his older twin, he’s just passive-aggressive with the way he shows his feelings.

“Hey, Lai, it’s alright.” Rody reassured. “I’m sure he knows you weren’t thinking appropriately.” Rody squeezed Laius’ shoulder, trying to make the other less sorrowful.

“We all make mistakes, yeah. You’re just a bastard to your own brother.” Sidd glared at Laius and walked away.

Sidd was overprotective of each friend of his, he hated seeing them hurt. He was particularly caring towards Logan. He and Logan been close since middle school, he despises anyone who caused his younger friend discomfort and pain.
Sidd previously wasn’t fond of Laius since Laius made Logan cry the utmost. This made him even more disappointed.

“Cyy,” Rayne called Laius by his nickname, “that seriously wasn’t cool.” He hissed and followed after Sidd.

“Hell.” Laius bit his lower lip and tried holding back tears. “Why am I always hurting him…?” Laius trembled, “Why-why is always me? Can I only harm my older brother?” Laius’ voice cracked as he looked up at Rody.

“Lauis,” Rody embraced Laius, holding him tightly yet soft. “Don’t cry, please…”

Only Logan can make Laius cry, and Lauis cried the most because of Logan. What a similarity they share as twins, no?

After Laius calmed down, he was still trembling. Due to being far away from the city, the climate was harsh and cold.

The wind blew vigorously, and the temperature was low. “Let’s go inside, mate,” Rody mumbled, “it’s cold and you’re fragile.”

Laius nodded, and the couple walked inside. Four pairs of eyes greeted them as they stepped in.

“Look who finally decided to join us.” Logan smiled at the two, he gestured his brother to sit next to him.

The atmosphere was light and cheery, yet again.

Sidd went to the kitchen and pulled out a crate of liquor. “No one’s going to bed until we are all knackered and trollied!”

The other guys looked at each other and then at the crate of alcohol. Smiles ignited the room like Christmas lights.

“Let’s get drunk and dazed, bloody hell!” Rayne took a bottle of whiskey and vodka. Popped open the bottles with a flick of his fingers.

“You are all crazy.” Ash mumbled and glanced at the cabinet, the alcohol glasses levitated out and sat themselves on the table.

“Tosh! Crazy is fun, am I wrong?” Logan grinned and held out his hand, the wine got poured into the glass, then traveled to Logan’s hands.

“When are you ever wrong?” Ash said. Him and Rody chuckled to themselves, recalling the past. Logan kicked Ash’s butt while glaring.

Hours later, the boys were drunk and out of it.
None of them could stand.

Or… so it seemed.

Logan stood up and walked over to one of his friends. He sat next to the another teen. “I’m bored. We’re the only ones awake, let’s play a game.” The other said to Logan.

Logan sat in the middle of the room and played a ‘game’ with them.

All was going well… until Logan wasn’t breathing. The teen got up, observing their ‘artwork’, “Beautiful.”

The teen deeply chuckled and went back to the spot they were last seen in.

The next day. All the teens woke up with a splitting headache.

“How much did we drink? My head is ’boutta burst.” Laius said rubbing his temples while keeping his eyes shut.

“We drank almost every single bottle.” Rayne scratched his hair.

“You dimwits are a bunch of alcoholics, and y’all dragged me into it.” Laius grumbled, still tipsy from the previous night.

“Alcoholics? We hardly drink! You’re a lightweight, you were the first to get drunk,” Rody voiced, rolling his eyes after hearing Laius complaining.

“Hey, why isn’t Logan up yet?” Sidd pointed out.

“He’s a lightweight, as well. More than me, honestly. He’s probably still out of it.” Ash said, curiosity filled his mind.

“I agree with you for once. He sleeps soundlessly, so he’s probably drunk and tired.” Rayne stated siding with Ash.
Sidd nodded and turned to glance at Rayne, “I’ll move him to the couch. It’s much more comfortable than the floor.”

Sidd then massaged his back, recalling the discomfort of sleeping on the hard marble floor.

“Yeah, you should.” The boys all agreed with Sidd.

A yawn escaped from Ash’s mouth. “Hell,” He cursed after a sneeze left him.

Sidd strolled lazily towards Logan, he lifted Logan up using his levitation gift. He pulled Logan towards him, held out his arms and Logan’s body weight dropped onto him.

“Hu…huh…!?” Sidd looked shocked. The other boys, who just finished cleaning, looked at him with a puzzled expression.

They shuffled closer and surrounded Sidd and Logan.

“What happened, bro?” Rody tilted his head in questioning.

“Why did you yell?” Laius inquired. “What happened?” Rayne and Ash asked in sync.

Sidd was trembling, he felt like Logan’s body became a hundred times heavier, a thousand times colder, and a million times paler. The words struggled to escape his usual cold, blunt and confident mouth.

“Logan’s dead…?”

“Logan…” Lauis fell to his knees, his playful smile dropped immediately, he felt as if time froze.

“Wh-what are you- talking about, Sidd? HE CAN’T BE DEAD!” Ash refused to accept that Logan was dead.

“He was fine and well yesterday! How is he…?” Rayne was newest to the friend group but held a special bond with Logan as he did with Sidd.

“Logan? Logan is dead…?” Ash felt her heart throb in pain, gripping her chest tears slid down her face.

“LAUIS!! IT MUST BE YOU!!” Ash began cursing at Lauis, blaming him for Logan’s death.

“HE IS MY OLDER BROTHER!!” Lauis screamed back. “Why would I kill him…?” His voice softened.

After some time, fights and fights later, ending with Ash believing Lauis did not kill his brother. “Are your ears, okay? After all that yelling, they must be ringing.” Sidd caressed Ash’s head.

“I have unique hearing not ultra.” Ash tried to smile and joke around.

“It’s time to leave, the police are waiting at the city station.” Rayne said and everyone heard Lauis sigh again for the umpteen.

His brother’s death upset him the most.

“Rody close the door,” Sidd through the keys to Rody and everyone walked out the house, following after Sidd.

“Okay.” She answered.
As she closed the door to the cabin house and walked towards the car, Rody whispered to herself,

“Logan, I murdered you and got away with it. You deserved to die for making my Lauis cry.”

Ash froze mid-walk and turned around, widened eyes as he whispered,

“You what…?”
