Work Text:
There’s a knock at his door and Hongjoong glances at the corner of his laptop—reading the accusing 3:45 am text of the time and internally sighs.
He starts saving and closing tabs as he calls out to whoever is behind the door to come in. He expects it to be Seonghwa stopping by after Wooyoung called him complaining but is surprised to see a round sleepy face and soft bear ears peak out from behind the door.
“Oh, Jongho, I’m sorry, did I keep you up?” Hongjoong softly calls out. He’s a little relieved when Jongho steps in and shakes his head no.
“No, it’s not that.” Jongho mumbles as he walks up to Hongjoong and flops down onto his mattress alongside him, careful of the equipment still laying on the bed.
Hongjoong halfheartedly huffs when Jongho pulls his tail closer to him—as if trying to cuddle with it—but he can’t deny that the sight is rather adorable. Though he does have to get up to put his equipment away.
“Jongho, I need to put this stuff away, can you let go for a second?” He asks, waving the tip of his tail a bit for emphasis. Jongho groans and scrunches his nose when Hongjoong’s fur rubs against it but lets go of the appendage with a sigh.
Hongjoong gets up and begins gathering his equipment—aware of the way Jongho’s eyes follow him around while the bear hybrid starts getting himself more comfortable on Hongjoong’s bed.
When everything’s been put away properly, Hongjoong turns back around and see Jongho tucked under his sheets and looking at Hongjoong with expectant eyes. It draws a gentle smile to Hongjoong’s lips and he slides in underneath the sheets too, accepting the way Jongho’s arms and legs wrap around his body when he settles in.
“Did your bed get too cold?”
Jongho nods his head before answering, “Yeah. Knew you’d be up so I could just bother you instead.”
Hongjoong knows it’s a lie but he wasn’t going to call the younger out on it. It’s not like he would outright say that he just wanted to cuddle with one of them. The little bear is too stubborn for that. Instead he hums an understanding sound and curls his tail around Jongho’s leg.
“And if i wasn’t up?”
“I’d wake you up anyways.”
“Yah, you shouldn’t treat your captain like that.” Hongjoong jokingly scolds, his eyelids beginning to feel heavy as Jongho’s body heat starts lulling him to sleep.
Jongho yawns and shrugs his shoulders, sleep beginning to envelop him too. “But I’m the maknae, I have privileges.”
“This cheeky bastard…” Hongjoong mentally grumbles but doesn’t argue. Instead he clicks his tongue and closes his eyes before telling Jongho to just go to sleep already.
Jongho huffs but it’s not long before his breathing turns shallow and his body becomes completely lax. Hongjoong follows soon after, weak to the comforting and warm presence of the younger next to him.
