He's Football Captain and I'm on the Bleachers

Summary:

“You are suppose to take two classes worth of P.E. to graduate from this school. You have completed none. I am guessing your old school didn’t focus on that sort of stuff.”

Spock moved to this school at the beginning of his junior year. He is upset that the guidance counselor didn’t inform him of his credit situation until now. He could have taken a class this year and already have one credit knocked down.

Mr. Ameen continues, “Our fellow band director has informed me that the marching band keeps continuously losing participants each year. This year they are quite short in the percussion department. He concludes his speech with, “I was wondering if you would be able to help them out and I’ll count it as 2 credits, since there is a physical aspect to marching band.”

Chapter Text

Spock was seated in the guidance counselor's office unsure of why he was even called down. It was the end of his junior year of high school and he just needed to make it through one last year before he made it out of this retched place.

He barely even knew the man. He was one of those staff members that tried to be hip with the students and were too easy going for Spock’s liking, especially towards the popular kids. Spock only ever spoke to him in regards to scheduling classes.

The guidance counselor, Mr. Ameen, was currently looking through some papers, when he finally looked up. “Spock I know you’re an upfront kind of guy, so I am going to cut straight to the reason why I called you in my office.” He says with a grin, like he is really doing him a favor. Spock avoids the urge to roll his eyes.

Before he is even able to stand up for himself, the guidance counselor continues, “I know this is slightly my fault as I meant to speak with you about this situation when you first arrived here.” Once again Spock has the urge to roll his eyes. “But I have actually come up with a solution where you can get both your credits out of the way without taking two classes next school year.” Spock knows that whatever he is going to say next is not actually going to be in his favor.

Right away, Spock spoke up, “Is there not another option possible in the summer that I could take towards the credits. I don’t want to be in an extra curricular that would benefit me in no such way only to knock out some credits quickly.” He adds on, “You do realize that I’m already the leader of multiple honor societies here. The last thing I want is to be mixed in some program that will interfere with them.

“Spock you’re making it sound like I gave you a punishment. I merely did all that was possible to do what was easiest for you. The marching band meets 3 times a week after school and you know that honor societies typically meet in the morning.” The grin on his face widened even more, which Spock didn’t even know was humanely possible. “You should be thanking me for not putting you in two classes full of freshmen and sophomores to complete your credits.”

“This is absurd,” Spock claims while trying to calm himself down. He’s not going to lose it in front of someone so insignificant in his life. “There is no way this is the only option I have.”

“Well Spock, my dear, this is all the time I get to meet with you today. I have got a meeting I got to get to.”

“But I didn’t even-”

“I already informed the band director, Scotty, about your situation. I suggest you speak to him about your issue.”

As he gets up from his seat he adds on, “Other then that your still free to take two P.E. classes next year, but I already offered you the easiest way to complete those credit.” With that last statement, he quickly exits the room.

Spock is still seated feeling irritated, which he doesn’t like because how could someone he barely talked to get on his nerves so much. He knows he is not going to do marching band, so as soon as he sees Mr. Ameen he will be sure to tell him that he plans to just take the two classes. Besides, he doesn’t even know how to find the band director. Moreover, he doesn’t even know what he looks like. The guidance counselor really has been unhelpful.

Once he gets out of the office and is on his way back to his math class, he thinks about how it could possibly be that bad to take two P.E. classes in one year. He is definitely not athletic in the slightest, but if it is what he has to do to graduate and to wipe that smile off of Mr. Ameen’s face, then he will take those classes.

When he turns the corner to go down the next hallway, he runs right into someone. When he looks up, he see the person he ran into along with two other people, the captain of the football team and two other football players that seem to always follow him. Spock was surprised that his day could get any worse.

Notes:

Started writing this for someone and had to upload it today or else ao3 would´ve deleted it, so not a lot of editing went into it. I promise my writing is not this bad. :( I'll try to fix this chapter and get the next chapter out soon.
