Chapter Text

I leave the note on my desk and leave the house—lying to my mother, telling her I was going to the library—slamming the door behind me.

The sky is gray and my steps are quick, since this isn't the first time I've tried this; I always end up regretting it. As I walk, I glance beside me. There are children playing in a park, and I can't help but remember how I used to play in that same park when I was little. I quickly push that thought out of my head and keep walking.

Just when I least expect it, a drop falls and it starts to rain. It doesn't matter; I keep walking. I wonder if the note was enough. I think I should have written more. No... I keep walking.
Finally, I reach my destination: a bridge. Below is a large river, but because of the rain, the water is now more turbulent. Because I'm scared, the bridge seems higher. I place one foot on the small fence that prevents falls. Just as I'm about to place the other foot, I hear a "Psst." I jump slightly in fright and look to my right. All I can see through the rain is a dark forest. I quickly recover and look again at the large river below me. Finally, I place the other foot on the fence and close my eyes.

"Psst," someone whispered again from the forest.

"Hello?" I ask, a little scared. There's no answer.

With a sigh, I climbed down from the fence and decided to go into the woods. What did I have to lose?
The deeper I went, the darker the woods became, and the sound stopped.

"What a waste of time," I thought. Just as I was about to turn back, I saw a small light. I don't know why, but that light drew me in, so I decided to follow it. The light wasn't moving very fast, but I had to be practically running.
Suddenly, the light stopped, right in the middle of a perfect circle of mushrooms. I quickly approached the light and caught it in my hands. When I opened them, there was nothing there, but... I felt so awful, so tired... A blinding light surrounded me, and my eyes suddenly closed.

When I opened them, I was in a completely new place.

"What? Where am I?" I stammered, trying to compose myself.
