Chapter Text

Serena Reid could remember well the day that she met Gabriel. It was after one of her worst days in memory and it was only because of the arrival and rescue by Gabriel that it didn’t turn out different. Oh, she knew that the world knew him as Loki the god of mischief but she knew the truth about Gabriel. She had been newly twelve and tricked out into the football field where she was then stripped naked and tied to the goal post. Her chest was groped by the older boys and there were several who were laughing at her for being so thin and bruised up. Several of the school got uncomfortable with the talk around the field and left but there were five that remained behind and raped her before leaving her hanging from the goal post, her toes barely reaching the ground. The janitor showed up at one point and took advantage of her doing the same as the older football players. Uncaring about her tears. As the night had deepened she recited prayers that she remembered from books written in ancient Latin upon their shelves.

Serena passed out before she would learn that her prayers had been heard. She only remembered being wrapped in a blanket and hearing the sound of wings. When she woke the next day she was in her bed at her home and dressed in the pajama pants and tank that were her go to comfort items. Beside her bed was a bottle of water still sealed and an unopened bottle of Tylenol. Sitting up she took some of the Tylenol and then drank the water. She wrapped herself in her arms and looked around her room. She stepped out of her room and looked around wondering how this had happened. She couldn’t forget where she had been nor what had happened. She looked to her mom’s bedroom but she was passed out asleep. She walked into the kitchen where there was a man standing cooking French toast and bacon.

“So...” She whispered looking at him carefully. “Is it true if I see your wings I’ll go blind? Or will I go mad?”

“I like you kid...” Gabriel smirked as he turned to look at her. “It’s not often someone prays to me of all people.”

“Do you prefer your real name or a different name?” Serena asked.

“You can call me Gabe.” Gabriel chuckled and popped a sucker in his mouth. “Or Lokes...” He put a plate of food on the table for her. “Eat up...and then rest...you’ve been excused from school today, since it’s a Friday it gives me a chance to help you out...”

Serena smiled tightly at him before nodding.

Gabriel disappeared a short while later, he’d already gotten a police report drawn up and will slip it into the precinct but they wouldn’t be in time to save the bastards. It’s so sad how high suicide rates are in high school janitors is. He refuse to let child rapist to continue working in the school where he’d violated a child. The students would find that their lives were challenged as well in ways that were unexplainable until people looked at their phones and media history. Once one was discovered the others would fall and Serena would be avenged.

Serena would pray to Gabe several times through the years as she grew up. When she joined the FBI she continued to keep in contact with him and through him met the Winchesters. She chuckled remembering the first time she had met Sam and Dean. They had been dealing with Gabriel who was acting like a janitor at a university. She shook her head in response to what he was doing knowing that things were going to be crazy. They ended up in Serena’s bed finally giving into the desires that had built through the years between them.

Through the years Serena’s gratefulness changed as did the feelings that Gabriel had for Serena. When she dealt with the after effects of Hankel Gabriel arrived and helped her. He made sure she understood that his brother was not in fact using Hankel as a meat suit. Instead, it was just the delusions caused by a mind break. He helped her when she admitted to craving the drug that Hankel had pumped into her before raping her. She craved it because it had helped her block out what had happened and mellowed the memories tied with it. Gabriel removed the cravings from her and helped her find a psychiatrist who wouldn’t use the drugs against her nor use her mother’s illness against her.

After the events where the brothers learned who Gabriel really was he came to talk with Serena. He had been upset on how they had called him out but also from the way that his baby brother Castiel had looked at him after he brought him back. They spent several days together while she helped him figure out what he needed to do in conjunction with his siblings and the shitshow that they were attempting to start.

When the time of the apocalypse was happening, Serena had taken a leave from work and traveled to the Elysian Fields Hotel. Gabriel had let her know that was where he was going to be and that he was likely going to be confronting his brother there.

“What are you doing here?” Gabriel looked at Serena as she entered the room he had transported Sam and Dean into.

“I’m here to stop all of you from doing somethings so supremely stupid.” Serena sighed before looking at Dean and Sam.

“What would you know about it?” Dean smirked as he looked her up and down.

Serena was dressed down from what she would normally wear to the office. She was in a red and blue flannel shirt that had the sleeves rolled up to a ¾ point, short cut off black jean shorts, her black converse high-tops, a leather backpack purse and her glasses on her face.

“I know that this is a trap. I know that they want to use both of you for bait and that the desk-clerk has already betrayed everyone in this hotel by sending word to Lucy that You,” she pointed to Sam, “are here. Now...I’m not a hunter. I’m a BAU agent with the FBI currently on leave for personal reasons. The main being that I’m not about to let anyone take Gabe away from me.”

“And just who are you?” Dean asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Dr. Serena Reid,” Serena answered simply as she cocked her head to the side. “Now...Are we going to break out of here or are we going to deal with the brothers with supreme daddy issues?”

Dean fought back a laugh at the way that she put that.

“And how are we going to deal with them?” Sam asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Gabe?” Serena held her hand out for his blade which he gave her without a second thought. “You are the distraction.”

Serena then stepped out moving with a stealth that her teammates would be surprised by. It was something that she had learned around her mother and Gabriel had helped her perfect. Gabriel left the room to go back to the others and talk with them again in an attempt to get the others to give this up.   Sam and Dean left their room and attempted to stop a lot of killings happen. Serena snuck up on Mercury who was behind the desk watching the front door. She knew he’d already made the call and that it wouldn’t be long before Lucifer showed up.

“You should’ve never betrayed your fellows...” Serena whispered in Mercury’s ear before she stabbed Gabriel’s blade through his back. “I don’t like when people betray their friends to their deaths.”

“Where did you get that blade?” A voice came from the doorway.

“Why are you concerned for your baby brother or do you want to kill him?” Serena asked with her head cocked to the side. “After all you’re wanting to kill the brother that all but raised you in place of Daddy and you’re letting your minions and little siblings dictate what happens...” Serena stood in the front entry with a raised eyebrow.

“How...” Lucifer reared back in shock. “What do you mean?” He narrowed his eyes.

“Your father has completely checked out. He doesn’t give a shit that you’re all working on ‘ending the world’.” Serena explained while crossing her arms uncaring that she was holding a sword in one hand. “This shit show is because Michael, Zachariah, and Raphael have decided that things are taking too long to end. I’ve seen so much shit and can tell when someone is talking shit...” She stepped forward. “Now...I’m not saying you shouldn’t deal with things but...” She smirked. “Michael is sending the younger angels to ‘prevent things’ but think about it...” She raised an eyebrow. “If the Host were truly attempting to stop the seals from breaking do you really think that you’d be free?” She stepped closer. “Michael has told Dean his ‘true vessel’ that regardless of the fact that he raised you and still loves you he’s going to obey his father and kill you. He says that ‘free will’ is an illusion, and that regardless of choices a destiny awaits everyone. Now...” She cocked her head the other way and put her hand on her hip. “Tell me how your ‘father’ would think about someone calling his ‘free will’ orders an illusion?”

“You know nothing...” Lucifer sneered.

“I know that you just as you brothers are able to love and not fall.” She stepped forward again. “I know that you want to kill Michael just as much as he wants to kill you but feel as if there’s no other choice.” Serena stopped right before Lucifer. “I know your father is a bastard who needs to get his children under control and actually practice what he preaches. I also know that I’m the unexpected complication in your father’s and your brother’s plans...see...I’m something they didn’t expect because I’m a mother who refuses to let my child not have a father because his brothers are bastards that want to end the world and in doing so kill their brother, their sister-in-law, and their niece.”

Gabriel appeared beside her with wide eyes as he heard what she had said. He then looked at Lucifer with wide eyes as he took the blade from her. Lucifer was also looking at her in shock blinking rapidly as if attempting to realign his thoughts. Michael appeared beside Lucifer also looking at her in shock, since she had been saying his name repeatedly he felt called to see what was going on. Serena smirked at the trio before raising a single eyebrow.

“Now...are we going to continue this shit storm or are you going to pull up your big boy panties and actually work together?” Serena cocked her head to the side with one hand resting on her hip and the other hanging down.

Few would realize that the apocalypse was stopped because a woman wasn’t about to let the shit show continue if it risked the life of her child. She also had gone after Chuck for his actions and inactions that had almost ended the world, much to the amusement of the brothers and Chuck’s sister Amara. Thanks to the give no shits attitude of Serena Reid during the apocalypse and the fact that she had a secret child with Gabriel without Chuck knowing about it the world didn’t come to an end and several other attempts were avoided as well. The deities that had been at the Elysian Fields Hotel all let it go that Serena had killed Mercury when they learned that he had betrayed them in calling for Lucifer. They were just glad that they weren’t wiped out, especially when Serena pointed out to Michael and Lucifer that they were technically half-siblings because Chuck had created them as well to take the blame for several things when he wanted to check out.

When Jack came around Serena and Gabriel became the supportive Aunt and Uncle that didn’t let any of the bullshit happen that others wanted. Their daughter because the favorite cousin and fiercest protector of Jack. Serena was able to make Chuck give both Lucifer and Michael their own vessels just as Gabriel had one and Castiel had one so that they didn’t need to possess someone to be present in their family’s lives. Michael and Lucifer actually sat down and talked and with the help of the Hunters that had been part of team ‘Free Will’ they had gotten the angels and demons under control.
