Chapter Text
I sipped my champagne. I was currently at the Mikaelson ball. Elena had asked me to tag along with her. Something about her not wanting to be crushed to death by my brothers having a pissing contest. Which, I understand. After the whole Stefan leaving with Klaus thing, he’s been different.
Then I heard it. Someone, probably a vampire, getting thrown into something. It’s actually probably an original. I know logically I should stay where I am. Pretend I don’t have super human hearing. Stay out of it. It’s not my mess to clean up.
Even though I know all this, I still follow the sound. I go up the stairs into a room. There stood two Mikealson brothers. Klaus and Elijah. Now, I know I should go back downstairs. Pretend I didn’t see a thing. But I don’t do that. I’m a Salvatore. Getting into other people’s business is in my blood.
I took off one of my heels and threw it at Klaus. It caused him to drop the magic dagger in his hand. Probably more from shock than pure strength. He looked over at me with pure rage. An emotion on Klaus that I’ve grown accustomed to.
”klaus, hey. There’s no need for such violence,” I smiled. I took off my other shoe, just in case. Now, I should have grabbed some kind of wood. At least that would temporarily kill him. Throwing my shoe at him probably just made him angerier.
”She’s right, Niklaus. What would mother think,” Elijah asked. He’s definitely braver than I am. I would have just run.
“Fine. But Salvatore, if he messes up, I will drain you dry,” Klaus warned. “Noted. He won’t mess up,” I agreed. The moody hybrid walked out of the room. Leaving Elijah and I alone.
“You didn’t have to do that. I would have been fine,” Elijah announced. “If I hadn’t thrown that shoe at him, you’d be dead. That dagger was inches from your heart,” I reminded. “I would have gotten free,” Elijah assured me.”You originals are all the same,” I sighed. “What is that supposed to mean,” Elijah asked. “You’re all arrogant as hell,” I explained.
”You know your life is in danger now,” Elijah reminded me. “My life isn’t in danger as long as you don’t piss Klaus off. While knowing you and him, you could breathe wrong and piss him off,” I sighed.
”You should leave before you anger any other of my siblings. I’ll walk you out,” Elijah suggested. “Good Idea. But, I need a drink first after all of that,” I agreed. “Alcohol, right?” Elijah hoped. “Yes, I don't just drain people at parties, “ I confirmed. “So are you on the animal diet like Stefan,” Elijah asked.
Despite not wanting me to drain anybody, he seems disgusted by my brother's food choice. “No. Between my brothers I'm like medium sauce,” I informed. “You're medium sauce?” Elijah questioned. “Yeah. Damon is spicy. Just goes on and bites people. Stefan is like Mild sauce. Only animals. And I'm medium. I drink blood bags,” I explained.
“Let's just get you a drink,” Elijah sighed. Elijah opened the door for me. I walked out with Elijah behind me. Elena saw me and gave me a questioning look. I mouthed “I’ll tell you later.”
I ordered a drink at the little bartender. I could feel a lot of eyes on me. My friends judging me. Elijah's siblings looking very confused. This was just a very tense situation.
“Do you think Elena is telling the truth?” Elijah asked. “About what?” I wondered. “I know you know my mother wanted to speak to her. And she said everything is fine. Do you think she is telling the truth,” Elijah reminded me.
“I think she wants to tell you the truth but that doesn't mean she is,” I revealed. “So you think she's lying?” Elijah guessed. “I don't know. I do know she’s under a lot of pressure from my brothers. In case you didn't know, my brothers don't like your family,” I explained. “No, I know. They really don't like Niklaus,” Elijah chuckled. “Exactly. Elena doesn't hate you. And I don't think she wants you dead. But she wants Klaus dead. She won't lie to you if it's just about you. But I don't know what was said in there,” I confirmed. “Thank you, Y/N,” Elijah smiled.
The bartender handed me a drink. I didn't want to take a sip. That would break this strange comfortable silence between us. I don't know much about Elijah. Except that he's not what he seems.
“Are you going to drink it?” Elijah asked. And then comfortable silence is over. These vampires are really dense sometimes. I took a sip the silence is gone now, there's no reason to waste a perfectly good glass of bourbon.
“I'd like that walk to my car now. Your vampire drama is too much for me,” I requested. “You're a vampire too. How does that work?” Elijah asked. “Just- just walk me to my car,” I instructed. “Alright,” Elijah agreed.
Elijah walked me out into the front of his house. There sat my car. I unlocked it and he opened the door for me. “I'll see you again?” I asked. “If Elena didn't lie, you will,” Elijah confirmed. “And if she did?” I wondered. He stopped. “You'll see me again,” Elijah decided.
