Soft Moments

Summary:

After a long day of work, Lucanis and Kal take a moment to relax together.

Work Text:

Lucanis stretches popping and cracking from a long day doing nothing but paperwork. “Luca?” Kal mumbles sleepily from where he nearly feel asleep waiting for him to finish work for the day. His ridiculous husband perks right up upon seeing Lucanis stand, rushing to his side in a moment. “Do I finally get my way with you?” Kal steals his requisite amount of kisses as he gives him that look that never fails to melt Lucanis’ heart.

“Perhaps,” He agrees easily enough. “ Though, first, I would like a bath.” It’s been a long day, it’s cold, and he would like the chance to relax. Kal smiles at him, a hint of that lifelong anxiety flickering through those mystifying eyes before being banished.

Kal, being the impossible to predict man that he is, scoops Lucanis right up into his arms and carries him all the way to their private bath house. There’s something about Kal growing so much that he willingly enters such a place that makes Lucanis warm and fuzzy inside. His husband nuzzles into his neck, more than pleased with himself as Lucanis’ feet find the floor of their bathhouse. He’s stripped within a moment, and Kal’s carrying him once more.

“I can walk on my own, you know.” There’s no heat in it, there hasn’t been in a long time.

Kal grins at him, “Yeah. But you’ve had a long day and I want to.” His wonderful husband lowers them into the warm water, barely even flinching this time. It soothes the aches from his day. Careful fingers run through his hair, working out any tangles they come across. He really hasn’t had much time recently to take care of himself properly, has he? “You need to spend more time on yourself.”

Lucanis smirks, his Kal shifting closer to his side. “I could stand to spend less time on work…” He agrees. Kal hums, pleased. “But when would it all get done? If I fall behind I’ll never be able to catch up.”

“Then get someone to help you. I won’t have you overworking like this for longer than absolutely necessary.” Those soft lips steal his own, demanding his attention. Hands ghost over his skin, but don’t go further. He must have exhausted Kal with all the waiting.

“Alright.” He agrees once Kal releases him to do so. He’d love more time with his wonderful husband, at any rate.

Those white locks find a home against his shoulder. Lucanis smiles. It’s been far too long since they simply relaxed together. Between the kids and work, they’ve barely the time to spend together.

Soft snores reach his ears. Lucanis’ smile turns into something softer. He makes a promise to himself to find some help as soon as possible. He’d hate it if he ended up hurting the man that stole his heart. Pressing a soft kiss to the top of his head, Lucanis decides to let his beloved rest a bit before disturbing him. The water’s too nice not to.
