Work Text:
Abolish stands at the coffin in the crypt that is by the castle. It has been 200 years since they have all left Oakhurst. Yet Pyro remains here at a resting place to keep him at bay by nothing but a stake. No one was going to build him a grave, not even him. Granted, Shelby did build him one about a hundred years later. Abolish, didn’t see the point in building a grave for someone that he didn’t plan on keeping dead.
He needed more time to figure out some things as he wants to give Pyro the option to live with him either as a vampire or as the in between that he is. All the positives of being one but none of the down fall. Granted doing this to himself required more paperwork in the end. But learning how to do this was worth it for Pyro’s sake.
“This too will cause me to have more paperwork, but they are worth it.” Is all Abolish says before removing the lid from the coffin.
The stake, while in a state of decay is still firmly in Pyro’s chest. He grabs a hold of it and slowly pulls it out and Pyro’s eyes slowly open. It has been so long since he had last drank that they are now back to a misty blue that Abolish finds stunning. “Where am I?” Are the only words that come from Pyro before falling asleep.
Abolish caresses the sleeping vampire’s cheek as they still feel cold to the touch. “I’m going to take you home Pyro. Don’t worry, you won’t be hurt again.” Is all Abolish says before picking Pyro up and carrying him out of the crypt over his shoulders into his car laying him down across the back seat.
He will be staying in a hotel until Pyro is able to fully gain consciousness again. After which, he knows that Veycant will be able to pick him and Pyro up. Even though his adopted father had talked to Abolish as if Pyro would become some kind of pet but that isn’t anyway that he could ever think about this man behind him.
After making it into the hotel room at the port city he lays Pyro down and starts to heat up some water for tea himself. Electric kettles are a really nice invention that help a lot when he is mobile.
As he waits for the kettle to boil he sits next to the man that he has brought with him. They probably need blood to recover. Is all that Abolish thinks as he looks at Pyro longingly. Abolish reaches into his pocket and takes out a pocket knife and slits his wrist putting it to Pyro’s mouth as the vampire drinks.
Pyro’s eyes slowly open back up as they turn to their side to face Abolish. He still looks to be in a daze as his eyes lock onto the person in front of him. “Abolish?” Their voice sounds weak as they reach out to the only person in Oakhurst that showed him kindness regardless on if he was human or not. “You look different.”
“I found a way to become immortal without truly becoming a vampire.” Abolish pauses as he thinks on what to say next. “There is no wrong answer, but do you want to stay a vampire?”
Pyro blinks unsure what to say. “I- I don’t know. I don’t even know where I am.”
“We are at a port city on the outskirts of Oakhurst and I am going to get us some tickets to New York once you are better.”
“New York? Like Yorkshire?” Pyro’s voice was quiet as he rolls the thoughts through his head.
“Kind of. But not really?” Abolish lays down next to him as he snuggles up to them. “Take your time to decide. We have an eternity.”
“I have to go back to study. I have a degree that I need to finish.” Pyro’s words came out quietly.
“I think that might be a little hard to do Pyro. You can go back to school if that is what you want. But I think that you might struggle picking up your old degree.”
Pyro feeling confused responds to him. “Why would that be hard? I was still enrolled last time I checked.”
Abolish places his hand on the vampire’s cheek looking at him with understanding. “Pyro, you have been asleep for two-hundred years”
“Two-hundred? Oh, that’s right, I was staked by Shelby.” Is all Pyro says as his mind trails off. He can’t even enact revenge on all the people that had wronged him. He, really has nothing anymore then does he? He has nothing but the beast that Scott Goldsmith had made him. Or more of, helped confirm that is what he is and always will be.
“Well, you are here now, do you want to go back to school? The Veylock family would be more then happy to help fund that if you desire. I know that the Pyroscythe family isn’t around anymore.” Abolish runs his hand down Pyro’s arm as if to try and sooth them.
They look into the person’s eyes that are in front of them. One red eye and one brown as well as half their head being black and the other half white. “You look amazing.”
Abolish kisses Pyro’s forehead as he brings them close to him. “As do you. Take your time deciding what you want. We have all the time in the world. I am in no rush. Even if that means I will have to file paperwork on you twice.”
