The shock of Martyn’s death shook the whole village. What went wrong? Why did Martyn die? Legundo was supposed to turn him and then they were going to cure the people that didn’t want to be vampires. Even if that mean Sausage would have had to of left both Martyn and Ren eventually.
“You bring him back right now!” Ren’s voice was a demand. An order to old war doctor that could not ever be met.
“I didn’t mean to. I don’t know what happened!” The doctor’s voice was uneven as he backed up as he saw Martyn’s dead body strung across the ground.
“I shoulda known better then to trust a vampira! I knew it all along. All ya vampires ya lied to us!” Ren had clenched his sword and started to swing at the doctor as Scott jumps in attacking Ren to most likely protect his own peace.
“No I can’t lose someone else too.” Sausage thought to himself as he rushes to defend his friend that he deeply cares for. Sausage pushes Scott out of the way and stands in front of Ren who has fallen wanting for the final blow that had never seemed to come.
“Mr. M… Why did cha save me?” Ren seemed to be in disbelief on what has happened to him. He was expecting to die. Yet here he was, very much alive, looking up at someone that he used to consider a friend.
“Well you are my friend. Don’t cha know?” Sausage says in an affectionately loving voice, imitating Ren’s bad accent.
“Me friends with a vampira?” Ren looked right at Sausage emotions welled up in his eyes. He was about to kill a friend. He didn’t treat Sausage like a friend after Apo turned him.
“I won’t kill you if you don’t attack us.” Scott chimes in and receives glares from the crowd. “What? He attacked us! Are you telling me that I should have just stood there and took it?”
“You will actually change, right Scott?” The doctor spoke up as to chastise the actions of the elder that is around them.
“I will, but I am not going to stand still as we are all being attacked!”
The bickering went on with the two for what felt like an eternity. “Hey Ren, I am still the same as I was before. Once the barrier is down, Let’s make a grave for Martyn. What do you say?”
“Maybe not all vampiras are that bad, don’t cha know.” Ren looked at the dead body lying before him as it lays there motionless. Maybe if he looks at it enough, Martyn would move again? An idea pops into Ren’s head. “Mr. M! You can turn him right? You can revive Mr. Woodhurst and everything would be alright!”
“I don’t think that will work Ren.” Apo speaks up sounding dejected. “I- I think I am the reason Legs couldn’t tun Martyn. The body can’t host two Sires after all.”
Ren let those words sink in. Martyn is truly gone. “I still hava you, right Mr. M?”
Sausage’s red eyes softened at Ren’s question. Of course he would still have Ren. That is a fruitless question. “As long as you will have me, I’d be more then happy to have you.”
Ren was quiet, as he thought on Sausage’s response. “Ya, really havan’t changed, have ya Mr. M.”
“I haven’t changed who I am. Mr. Don’t cha know. I am just a vampire.”
“Aigh, that you are Mr. M.” Ren’s voice is quiet as he mulls over what Sausage says. “I guess that I can try’a trust that Legs won’t kill me.”
“Thank you Ren for trusting me.” Legundo walks over and drinks from Ren fully turning him. “Okay, I did my part take me somewhere we can end this. I don’t want to be here anymore.”
Abolish looks at Legundo with understanding. “Are you sure about this Legs. If we all turn, we all can make it out.”
“I- I don’t deserve eternity Abolish.”
That was all five years ago as Ren and Sausage go to Oakhurst yearly to visit Martyn’s grave. The fact that it was almost Ren there with him pains Sausage greatly.
“Do ya think Mr. Woodhurst looks at us from above M” Ren’s voice was quiet and despite turning into a vampire, it did not fix his cursed tongue. Not that Sausage minds.
“He might, but you know, maybe we shouldn’t think about the past. Maybe we should think more of about the now. Like are you still okay with being a vampire?”
“Being a vampira isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. As longa I am with yee M, I wouldn’t mind stayin’ one.”
Sausage’s face lights up. “Oh, really! That is great!” Sausage gets down on one knee and fiddles around in his pocket trying to find something that seems to be lost in some great abyss. That abyss happens to be his pants pockets.
“M, what cha doing?” Ren asks as he tuns to look at Sausage messing around until he pulls out a small wooden box from the pocket that he wasn’t looking around in.
“Ren, I know that these five years have been long. But I want to say that I wouldn’t be where I am without hearing all your ‘don’t cha knows’ and having you by my side. You don’t need to be cured. I just want you to be with me.” Sausage opens the small box with an engagement ring inside embedded with a red diamond.
“M, I don’t know what to tell yee… I would love to have ya with me, don’t cha know?”
Of course Sausage would want him. Why wouldn’t he? “You know that I would Ren. I will be with you for as long as you want to remain alive.”
“Of course M. It is an honor to be by yee side.”
