Everything's Delicious

Summary:

Thanksgiving dinner in the Brewer-Rose house after the incident with the stuffing.

Notes:

Ask and ye shall receive, AWorldOfDreams ;)

You all need to go read her lovely Smutsgiving work, Stuffing, first to understand the context behind this fic!

Sorry this isn't a drabble or double drabble. It's late (technically not even Thanksgiving here anymore), it's been a long day, my brain is mush, and I wrote this very hastily with no brainpower to try and limit my word count.

I hope it's at least mildly entertaining!

Work Text:

“Everything’s delicious, boys,” Clint said around a mouthful of food.

“Thanks, dad.”

“Not that I’m complaining, sweetheart, but weren’t you going to make Nana Brewer’s cornbread stuffing?” Marcy asked.

“Right.  I thought about it, but I decided not to this year.” He threw his husband a worried look.

“Marcy, it’s my fault.  I really wanted traditional stuffing,” David interjected.

“Oh, well that’s fine, dear.  This is good too.”

“Wait, is that what I saw in the trash?” Stevie chimed in.

“Stevie!” David hissed.

“Ok, you caught me.  I messed up the recipe and had to chuck it,” Patrick laughed nervously, but continued, desperately trying to change the subject. “Didn’t David do a great job on the sweet potatoes?”

“It looked all burned,” Stevie grimaced.

“Yep.  Had the oven too high,” Patrick responded.

“Or did you get distracted while it was cooking?” Stevie smirked.

“Stevie!” David scolded her again.

“Yeah, I had a lot of things cooking all at once - multitasking isn’t my forte.” Patrick was getting desperate.

“Multitasking?  Is that what the kids are calling it these days?” Clint asked with a grin and a wink.

“Dad!”

“Clint, leave the boys alone.”

“Thank you, mom.”

“Afterall,” Marcy continued, “We all know how they can’t keep their hands off each other.”

The Brewers and Stevie broke into laughter.

“Alright, guys, that’s enough,” a red-faced Patrick all but shouted. “Can we just enjoy the meal we worked so hard on?”

“Hard on? Really, Patrick?” Stevie snorted.

“That’s enough out of you,” David pointed at Stevie.

“Okay, let’s all settle down,” Clint responded as the voice of reason. “Why don’t we get back to appreciating this lovely meal that the boys prepared, ok?”

“Yes, Clint’s right.  Let’s all go around and say one thing we’re thankful for this year,” Marcy said with a genuine smile.

“I’ll go first,” Stevie responded.  “I’m very thankful that we all have such delicious things to put in our mouths today!”

“STEVIE!”
