Cold Like Static

Summary:

Vox nearly catches hypothermia like an idiot, luckily Valentino is there to help warm him up.

Notes:

I did just write this before bed lowkey bc my heater broke. I'm trying to be more comfortable just sharing small little pieces that don't have to be grand or perfect so yeah its just short and cute and I am so obsessed w them.

Work Text:

Vox hated the cold. He could feel his circuits moving slower, every thought coming short a fraction of when it should. It was too cold for him to even zap back to the tower, forced to walk back from a newscast. Not that he could admit that his power had such an exploitable weakness, calling a cab would give him away. Velvette might call that idiotically stubborn but he built an empire so clearly he had to be doing something right. Vox kept on moving, snowfall warming on his heat exhaust and melting into his suit. He was beginning to regret not at least wearing a proper coat. Vox’s image of perfection did not include pervious to inclement weather, but damn it he was fucking freezing. He was failing at even suppressing his shaking now, but luckily no other sinners were around to notice.

By the time he made it back to the tower he was entirely soaking wet and he could tell his screen was fritzing out because of it. Stepping into the building barely cured the freezing ache as he continued to chatter, his vision cutting out and rebooting at random times alongside his monitor. Before he could try to stumble his way to the elevator he felt warmth wrap around him. Vox leaned into it instinctively before he processed what was happening.

“Are you trying to catch a cold?” Vox felt Valentino’s voice more than he heard it, he realized he had been pressed into the moth’s warm fur.

“I c-c-cant c-catch those Val” Vox couldn’t fight it as his legs were swept out from under him, his vision dimmed as Val’s wings came to wrap around him entirely.

“Mhmm okay” With the added privacy Vox took the opportunity to nuzzle into Val’s chest, desperately trying to suck up the warm body heat.

Valentino carried Vox up to his room, gently setting him down on the bed.

“You really have to be more careful amorcito” Val tutted as he peeled off Vox’s wet jacket.

“And leave you without a reason to get me in your bed?” Vox was glad he had stopped shivering enough to at least get a sentence out.

“There’s better reasons to have you in my bed” Val tutted, climbing into bed bedside Vox. Vox allowed himself to go limp as Val brought him close, cocooning them in his wings and covering them both with a mountain of blankets. Vox sighed deeply as his mind drifted off. Maybe there were benefits to cold weather.
