   Summary

   Alyssa Targaryen was meant to be dead. For many years sickness nearly claimed her, but didn't. How was it that she survived the birth of which took her mother Aemma and twin Baelon? Alyssa liked to believe it to be a blessing unaware just how wrong she was. The so-called gods did not favor her, they cursed her life from Alyssa's first breath.

   She strove to prove she was worthy of the life graciously gifted. Alyssa wished only to make the late Aemma proud of her daughter. Be that as it may the girl came to live in the shadows of the kin that came before her. Alyssa I, Aemma, Baelon II, eventually even her elder sister Rhaenyra.

   The one person who saw Alyssa as herself was Aegon. He never looked at her and searched for another's face in hers. Why would he? His world consisted of only her.
