Work Text:

Ten years ago, Abolish had told himself he was going to visit Scott, Shelby, and Drift. Shocking absolutely no one, he did not end up doing that. In fact, he still hadn't. The closest he'd gotten was the time a couple years ago he'd seen Shelby in a Walmart, made eye contact with them for about ten seconds, and then ran out of the store and stayed much further away from all of them from then on. He was really not good at this "making more friends" thing that Morcant kept pestering him about doing.

Now he was standing at the entrance to their neighborhood, silent and motionless as snow started to fall around it. It really should be getting to their house by now before it froze to death. That was absolutely the last thing it wanted to do, however, even if that was also the thing it wanted to do most. Its feelings were very complicated.

On one hand, it'd maybe make some friends. It'd get a chance to really catch up with them, know what they were all feeling rather than just watching what they were doing from a distant. On the other hand, there was a non-zero chance they all hated him. Actually, the chance was much higher than zero. At least thirty percent. Maybe higher. Forty percent, probably.

He'd been stalking them for over two hundred years, after all. Usually, people didn't really like being stalked at all, but vampires especially didn't like being stalked by hunters. He knew that from experience having to stalk other vampires that knew him a lot less. Maybe their shared past would make them more understanding, or maybe it'd just make them angrier at him. Hell if he knew.

With a deep breath, he squeezed his eyes shut and started to walk. After a few steps, it managed to open them again. Its boots crunched slightly in the snow that was already beginning to pile up, the hair in front of its face and the wind whipping snow into its eyes certainly not helping it see. It raised a hand in an attempt to block at least some of the wind and snow.

Several people had put up Christmas lights, strung all over the houses and trees. This was a rich neighborhood, after all, so tons of decorations were to be expected. Abolish didn't particularly like all the bright lights. It had no idea how anyone could stand having those on all the time right out their window, especially at night when they were presumably trying to sleep. It was glad it lived out away from most people.

It only walked for a couple minutes before it was standing in front of the trio's house. The trees and bushes outside were decorated with bright red and white lights, which Abolish could only assume they'd paid someone else to set up. Snow blanketed their front lawn. It was freezing cold, and he knew he should probably knock on the door now, but he still felt terrified of the idea. Somehow this was far more nervewracking than killing vampires ever had been.

Finally, though, he walked along the pathway up to their front door, pulling a gloved hand out of his pocket to knock on the door. When there was no response after maybe ten seconds, he wondered if they were even home. Or maybe they didn't even want to answer him. But then the door swung open and someone was already grabbing his arm and dragging him inside.

"Abolish!" Scott announced, a bright grin on his face. Fae shut the door behind him, keeping faer hand on his arm as fae asked, "What are you doing here, darlin'?"

The nickname sent Abolish's heart pounding, but it merely cleared its throat and said, "I just wanted to visit. No… no real reason."

"Oh, good." Scott sighed dramatically. "Drift was so sure you were here to kill me. Honestly, I think he just wants me dead after I accidentally drank the last hot chocolate."

"That was not an accident and you know it," Drift's voice called from another room, although they said it with a small laugh at the end. Scott waved a hand dismissively and started to drag Abolish to where he assumed Drift and Shelby were.

"Abolish!" Shelby beamed at him, faer deep ruby eyes practically glowing. "Oh my gosh I haven't seen you in so long!"

They stood up and hurried over to him, before pausing right as they went to hug him. It only took a moment for Abolish to realize that doll wasn't sure if doll was allowed to hug him, and he slowly lifted his arms a bit, inviting faer to hug him. Immediately, they rushed forward and wrapped their arms around him, nearly crushing him in a hug. Abolish patted their back gently. It wasn't particularly used to any physical contact, so it wasn't entirely sure what it was supposed to do.

"It's great to see you again," Drift said with a smile while Shelby pulled away. Scott's arm slid around his waist, pulling him against faer side.

"It really is," the taller man hummed, staring down at him. "How have you been, darlin'? Holding up alright?"

"Yeah," Abolish said slowly as Scott dragged him over to the couch. He was pulled down in between Scott and Drift, Shelby sitting on Drift's other side and leaning over. "I, uh… I've mostly just been doing work, I've been alright. Busy, mostly."

"Mhm?" Scott leaned down and rested his head on top of Abolish's, both his arms sliding around its waist. It could see Drift roll his eyes. "Well, maybe you should take a break and come visit us more often. Relax a little. We've missed you so much, darlin'."

Missed him? He'd hardly even seen them for the past several decades, hadn't spoken to them since Oakhurst. How they could possibly miss him at this point, when he'd been purposefully avoiding them for so long, he had no idea. He felt a bit of guilt bubble up in his gut.

"Do you want anything to eat or drink?" Shelby asked suddenly, snapping him out of his thoughts. "We have a few snacks since we have some human friends, plus we can always order something."

"Oh, uh, I'm alright." Abolish stared intently at its lap.

"Are you sure, darlin'?" Scott lifted a hand to tilt its chin up, his pretty red eyes inspecting its face. He was wearing makeup, Abolish was pretty sure, slight mascara and eyeliner but not as much as he usually wore. He still looked gorgeous. In fact, he looked better without makeup, in Abolish's opinion, but it'd always found makeup tacky and too much.

"Well, if you have something to drink…" it found itself mumbling, unable to deny those bright ruby eyes. Scott's eyes were almost pinkish, neon and easily staring right through it. With a smile, the vampire pulled back and stood up.

"I'll get you something, sweetheart." Abolish almost felt disappointment at the absence of the man's arms around its waist. Hardly a second later, though, Drift was hugging it, pulling it close to himself and sighing dramatically.

"I can't believe Scott keeps hogging you all to himself," he huffed, Abolish ending up halfway in his lap as Shelby grabbed onto it as well. "Especially when fae promised fae wouldn't, I mean come on. He's always trying to be the center of attention."

"I can hear you," Scott called from the kitchen, Shelby shaking their head and laughing. Drift stuck his tongue out and then buried his face in Abolish's hair.

"You're all being ridiculous," Shelby giggled, his arms wrapping around Abolish to pull the half-vampire closer. "There's enough of it to go around." Now it was just laying across Drift's lap, pretty much trapped in the two's arms, leaving it wondering what the hell was going on. It'd expected everyone to hate it, not be treating it like this.

"I knowwww," Drift sighed, tangling one of their hands in Abolish's hair. "Scott's just a bitch."

"I am not a bitch," Scott complained, poking his head back into the room. "I've never done anything wrong in my life."

Even Abolish laughed a bit at that, reaching up to cover his mouth. There were butterflies in his stomach when Scott grinned at him.

Scott started to step back, before fae paused and asked, "You like hot chocolate, right?" Abolish nodded slightly. Actually, he preferred hot chocolate over most drinks, he just rarely had the opportunity to drink it since he mostly drank water. "Perfect!" Scott dragged out the word with his pretty voice until Abolish's head spun.

Scott went back to the kitchen, leaving the three of them alone again. Abolish shifted slightly to get more comfortable, finding his head in Shelby's lap while Drift ran a hand through his hair, practically petting him. It felt… much nicer than he would've thought it'd feel. Especially with their claws grazing his scalp and gently scratching at his head.

"Awww," Scott cooed as he walked over, and Abolish found itself quickly blinking open its eyes. It hadn't even realized it'd closed them. "Comfy, darlin'?"

"I, uh," it mumbled, watching him set the cup of hot chocolate down on the coffee table. He sat down next to Drift and rested one hand on Abolish's leg.

"You really are such a cutie," the eldest vampire purred, tracing circles into its leg. "You should come over more often."

"Maybe…" The idea was tempting, definitely. He just didn't have much time off work, and when he did he was always so tired - although coming over to cuddle and rest was possibly an option. Actually, with how he currently felt curled up with the three of them, that sounded like an amazing idea.

He was dragged out of his thoughts when he felt Scott's hand start to slide up his leg, only for Drift to swat the other vampire's hand away. With an only half-serious glare at Scott, Drift said, "You are the worst. I don't know how Shelby and Abolish like you so much."

"Oh, you love me," Scott said with a roll of his eyes. Drift waved their hand dismissively, although there was a smile on their face.

Something in Abolish's gut twisted. Everything in him wished - even though it was stupid, so stupid and immature and unprofessional - that the three of them would look at him like that, even just once. Staring at him with a smile that said you're so dumb sometimes, eyes full of all the love in the world. He knew the way the three of them looked at each other, even if he didn't really involve himself in their actual private lives all that much.

They were so happy. So… together. Loving in a way that Abolish would never get to be, considering no one cared for him like that. Even if he was enjoying himself right now, this was only temporary, and by the end of the night he'd probably be sent back home alone. And then he wouldn't visit them for another few hundred years, maybe three hundred or even just two hundred if he was lucky.

"Abolish?" Abolish blinked a few times at the sound of Shelby's voice, pulling it out of its spiral temporarily, faer hand resting on its chin to tilt its head up. It avoided looking at them even as they studied its expression. "Are you alright?"

"Huh?" With a glance between the three of them, it could tell they were all concerned. Shit. "I'm fine, why?" It hadn't been about to cry, had it been? It certainly didn't feel like it'd been close to crying, and it was always good at telling when that happened, so it could leave and get itself together whenever it needed to.

Shelby was quiet for a few moments, before doll let go of Abolish's chin, resting dolls hand on his chest. "I dunno. You just looked sad."

"I-" He swallowed and tilted his head away. "You know I just look like that, I'm alright. Although I should probably get going, I'm sure you all were busy before I got here anyways."

"Oh, no, absolutely not," Scott said immediately, a frown on his face. "Darlin', we've barely been doing anything all day, you're honestly the most entertainment I've had in weeks." Drift glared at him and he quickly stammered, "Not- Not that you're just entertainment! I enjoy you being here, you're pretty and funny and I love you so much, darlin', I'm happy with you just… staying here. With us. For as long as you can."

Abolish was silent. His head was spinning as he tried to process any of that. No one had ever said anything like that to him before, not as far back as he could remember. The I love you hit him like a punch to the stomach. Scott couldn't possibly mean love, right? Not in the way Abolish was thinking. Heart pounding, he struggled to push himself up, blinking rapidly as he stared at the taller man.

"You huh?" it asked, completely coherently of course. The frown on Scott's face shifted to a slight smile, a soft one, one that knocked all the words out of Abolish's head. "You- What- What do you mean by-"

Before it could finish its sentence, Scott grabbed its face and yanked it forwards, pressing their lips together. It eyes went wide as it fell into the kiss, the vampire's lips cold but soft and sweet and tasting faintly of expensive wine. It'd hardly processed that any of this was even real before it was leaning into Scott, eyes fluttering closed as it pressed its lips to his.

"Is that enough of an explanation?" Scott whispered against the shorter man's lips, breaking the kiss for just a moment. Abolish didn't even open his eyes, instead grabbing onto Scott's shoulders and pulling faer back in, his face practically on fire.

He didn't pull back until he felt lightheaded, eyes fluttering open as he inhaled deeply just inches away from Scott's lips. Staring into the other's bright ruby eyes, it was so easy to forget the entire world around him, until he heard Drift clear their throat a few inches from his ear.

"Can I at least get a turn if you're going to make out right there?" they asked, filling Abolish's stomach with butterflies. Scott laughed and leaned forward, pressing his lips against the side of the half-vampire's mouth.

"I don't know, can you?" fae purred against its skin, shifting faer position to peck its lips for a moment.

At that, Drift just huffed and wrapped his arms around Abolish's waist, pulling it back away from Scott. Its eyes fluttered closed as their lips pressed against its, much softer and far less aggressive. Scott's kiss hadn't been any worse, of course, just different. Abolish could kiss both of them forever, if he was being honest.

The kiss was far too short, but as soon as Drift pulled away he said, "Your turn, Shelbs." He said it with a giggle as he grabbed Abolish's chin, tilting the other's head back as its face burned. Shelby covered their mouth for a moment, giggling and looking away, and Abolish got the feeling that if fae wasn't a vampire fae would be blushing right now.

After just a moment or two, though, Shelby leaned down, tilting his head to kiss Abolish easier. The kiss was a bit clumsy, like they weren't used to kissing anyone despite having two boyfriends. Or Abolish at least assumed the three of them were dating. Now that it thought about that, it wasn't entirely sure, but it was at least certain that it was in a relationship the three of them by now. Surely this was more than what just acquantainces did.

When Shelby pulled back slightly, Abolish found itself turning its head away, face warm as it mumbled, "I- I think that's… that's enough for now." It couldn't help but giggle quietly, moving its hands up to cover its face as Shelby sat back. Fae laughed as well, leaning against Drift's shoulder.

"You're so cute," the shortest vampire said, a bright smile on their face. Abolish's face only felt hotter at that. Vampires were so lucky that they couldn't blush, instead of having to deal with this.

"And so shy," Scott added, leaning forward, only to have Drift push him back again.

"Give him a second to breathe, Scott." Abolish shook his head slightly at Drift's words, giggling again, shifting to lean against them. Their arms settled nicely around his waist.

"Alright," Scott said with a dramatic sigh.

"Can you stay the night?" Shelby asked, Abolish letting his hands fall back to his sides as he glanced over at them.

"Or forever," Scott suggested, blowing him a kiss. His face almost hurt from how much he was grinning.

"I can stay the night, yeah," he said after just a moment of thinking. It wasn't like he had work until tomorrow afternoon. He'd be fine.

"Oh, perfect." Scott clapped his hands together, his smile surprisingly warm. "Why don't I order food, then? You need to eat at least something for dinner."

Abolish rested its head against Drift's shoulder, its eyes fluttering halfway closed. "Thank you, Scott." Its smile softened as it watched the other pull out faer phone. "I love you too."
