Work Text:

"I honestly don't get what's so… important, about all this," Abolish said slowly as he watched Avid struggle to hang an ornament up near the top of the tree. As she stood on her toes, Pyro walked over and took the ornament from her hand, placing it up near the top of the tree where she couldn't reach. Avid pouted at him before quickly leaning down to grab another ornament.

As Scott looked over at him, he continued, "I mean, it's just a tree. And ornaments you bought at Target."

"What, have you never decorated a Christmas tree before?" Scott asked, walking over to where Abolish was sitting on the couch with a book in its lap. "Please tell me Morcant isn't that terrible of a father."

"He's not a bad father," Abolish said immediately, crossing its arms. "I've just always been busy with work, or my parents were… It's not like I have time to focus on things like Christmas when I'm busy with all that."

Thinking back, it honestly couldn't remember if it'd ever celebrated Christmas with its parents. They'd always been so busy all the time, it was usually left at home with the servants to take care of it… Although it was sure it'd gotten presents, Christmas had never been anything super dramatic, and the day was more like a second birthday rather than being focused around anything significant. Morcant had gotten it gifts as well, of course, but once again he'd been too busy to do much as well.

"Poor thing." Scott frowned, leaning down and resting a hand on its cheek. "Why don't you at least give it a chance? I promise it's really fun if you just try."

Abolish was about to tell him no, it was fine just reading, but then fae leaned forward and placed a kiss on its forehead. That made its apathy falter a bit, especially with the way he was looking at it so pleadingly. With a soft sigh, Abolish murmured, "Alright, I'll help, just don't expect me to like it that much."

"Wonderful," Scott said, grinning as he pulled back and stood up again. "Can you come help me with something, then?"

Setting his book to the side, Abolish stood up and asked, "Help you with what?" Scott didn't respond, just grabbing his hand and walking away with a quiet giggle, one that made Abolish immediately suspicious.

"Oh, wow, look at that!" Scott announced when he suddenly stopped under a doorway, gesturing with his free hand at the mistletoe above them. "Mistletoe! Now you have to kiss me."

Abolish paused, then scrunched his nose up slightly, saying, "You're making that up." He was mostly joking, considering he'd read about that in books before, and he wasn't exactly complaining about kissing his boyfriend. It made Scott pout, though, crossing faer arms.

"I swear I'm telling the truth," fae whined, staring down at him with a pretty good attempt at puppy eyes. Abolish couldn't help but smile softly.

"Come here, then." He reached up and wrapped his arms around the back of Scott's neck, closing his eyes as the taller man quickly pulled him into a kiss. Faer lips were soft, not chapped and bitten raw like Abolish's were, tasting faintly of wine.

They'd only been kissing for maybe five seconds before Avid complained, "Hey! That's not fair, you're leaving us out!"

Abolish went to pull away, but in response Scott just pushed him back against the doorframe, keeping their lips locked together. He felt his face warm at how closely they were pressed together, burning more when Scott's fangs brushed against his lips.

"Y'know, I think it's supposed to be a kiss, not a makeout session," Pyro pointed out. Scott still didn't let up until Abolish grabbed the back of his hair and pulled his head back, its eyes fluttering open as it took a deep breath.

"I need to breathe, did you forget?" it whispered, letting out an airy laugh. Scott opened his own eyes, just to pout and lean down, nuzzling into its neck.

"You're so cruel to me," fae murmured, lips brushing against its skin. "You know, darlin', I'm a little hungry…"

"You have blood in the fridge," Abolish huffed, but didn't push its boyfriend away.

"Just so incredibly mean." He planted a kiss on its neck, reaching up to pull its sweater down a bit. "During the Christmas season, no less. I mean, you could consider this an early gift." Abolish couldn't help but roll its eyes, even as butterflies fluttered in its stomach at the way Scott was trailing kisses all along its neck.

"Get a room, you two," Pyro laughed, while Avid finally walked over with his arms crossed over his chest. As Abolish finally started to push Scott off of him, Avid stopped in front of him, grabbing his face and leaning over to kiss him. His eyes fluttered closed again as he leaned into it, feeling Scott sigh dramatically against his neck before kissing it again.

Avid pulled back after just a few seconds, purplish red eyes practically glowing. Scott wouldn't stop kissing Abolish's neck, although fae had gotten more insistent about it now, letting faer fangs brush against his skin. Pyro glanced back at the three of them and just rolled his eyes, going back to decorating the tree.

"You're so pretty," Avid said suddenly, her face a bit flushed as she stared at him. He couldn't help but look away, unsure what exactly to say, even if his boyfriends told him that pretty much all the time. He felt Scott giggle against his neck.

"And so shy," fae teased, licking a bit at his skin.

That made his face burn, and he quickly pushed Scott's head back, stammering, "Okay, okay, that's- That's enough, Scott." Scott frowned at him, as he'd somehow upset faer terribly.

"Am I not allowed to kiss my wonderful boyfriend?" he complained, not pulling away entirely, his arms still wrapped tightly around Abolish's waist.

"You know what you're doing," was all Abolish said, raising an eyebrow at faer.

With a giggle, Scott said, "I have no idea what you could possibly be talking about."

"Can I kiss you?" Avid asked, pouting. Abolish looked back at him, a smile forming on its face.

"Okay, just one more and then-" Before it could finish its sentence, Avid was leaning forward and kissing it, grinning against its lips. It sighed softly and leaned closer to her, letting its eyes close again.

"Now you're really being cruel." Scott pulled away, although Abolish could tell he was just teasing, even if it already missed the arms around its waist a little. "I'm going to go make out with Pyro, then."

"Are you?" Pyro sounded a bit surprised, and Abolish opened one eye to see Scott hurrying over to where they were still trying to decorate the tree. Closing its eyes again, Abolish shifted to wrap its arms around Avid, smiling more.

"I love you," Avid whispered as he pulled back slightly. Abolish glanced over his face, his pretty purple eyes and the ash brown hair that fell in front of his face slightly.

"I love you too," Abolish murmured, quickly pecking her lips before pulling back. With a glance over at Scott and Pyro, it could see that the two of them were playfully arguing with each other, Scott trying to kiss Pyro while they pushed him back. Shaking its head, it let go of Avid and walked over to them.

"Having fun?" it asked, the two immediately stopping and turning to it.

"There's our perfect boyfriend!" Scott giggled, Abolish feeling Avid hug it from behind, arms wrapped tightly around its waist. Scott leaned forward to kiss it, but it quickly pushed his face back.

"You're still banned from kisses for right now," it reminded him, making him pout.

"Deserved," Pyro said, leaning down and kissing the top of its head. "You're being so touchy today, Scott."

"He certainly is," Abolish said with a small laugh, reaching up to kiss their cheek. He then looked back at the tree, asking, "Are you done with the tree yet, or?"

"No, because everyone keeps getting distracted," Pyro sighed, sliding his arms around Abolish's neck to pull the shorter man closer.

"You say that like you aren't trying to make out with Abolish right now," Scott pointed out, arms crossed over faer chest.

"You were making out with him earlier, it's my turn now." Pyro grinned, before pressing his face into Abolish's hair. "Not my fault he's just so distracting."

"Well it's not my fault either," Scott huffed, pouting. Abolish's face was burning, probably bright red from how all his boyfriends had been clinging to him. He really didn't understand why they were doing it, maybe they just thought it was funny, but it certainly felt nice to have all the attention on him - albeit a little embarrassing.

"Well if you haven't finished decorating yet, maybe I could help?" Abolish suggested, leaning his head against Pyro's chest. Avid whined in his ear and squeezed his waist tighter.

"That'd probably be a good idea," Pyro said, tangling one of their hands in his hair.

"Come on, Avid, you can cuddle with me," Scott sighed, holding out a hand to her. Avid paused, then slowly pulled away from Abolish.

"Fine, if you two are just gonna keep decorating the tree," she said with a dramatic sigh, taking Scott's hand and letting him drag her away.

Once the two had left the room, Pyro slowly pulled away from Abolish, resting a hand on his arm and saying, "Finally I have you to myself. I love those two, but they're… a lot." They laughed softly, and Abolish found himself smiling a bit.

"They sure are," he murmured, leaning down and pausing for a moment. He wasn't entirely sure how to decorate a Christmas tree. Did he just grab any ornament and put it wherever?

"Here, let me show you how," Pyro said, picking up an ornament. They reached up towards the top of the tree, carefully setting it on a branch. "You should probably stick with the lower half of the tree."

"Wow, are you calling me short?" Abolish teased, grabbing an ornament and straightening up. Pyro raised an eyebrow at him.

"You are short." Abolish hooked the ornament on a branch as high as he could reach, frowning at his boyfriend. "Abolish, you're tiny."

"I'm not tiny."

"What would you define as tiny, then? You're 5'1." Abolish paused for a few moments. It watched as Pyro easily reached almost the top of the tree.

"Less than 5', probably," it said finally, crossing its arms. "Just because I'm the shortest in the relationship doesn't make me small, you're just really tall."

"Uh huh." Pyro handed Abolish an ornament. "Here, I'll lift you up."

Abolish gasped as Pyro grabbed onto him, only struggling for a moment before lifting him up off the ground. He couldn't help but laugh as he reached forward and placed the ornament on the tree.

"You're so stupid," he said as Pyro didn't set him back down, just pulling him close to themself and squeezing him tightly.

"Yeah, yeah, and you love me so much." Pyro planted a kiss on top of its head before setting it down carefully, letting go of it. They rested a hand on top of its head, voice getting much softer as they said, "I heard you talking to Scott earlier about how you didn't grow up celebrating Christmas that much. My family always celebrated it, but… well, they didn't really include me."

Abolish frowned slightly. Everything it heard about Pyro's family honestly made it want to kill them all over again, even if they'd been dead for centuries now.

"My family's sort of celebrated," it murmured when Pyro didn't continue after maybe ten seconds. "We've… never had much time to, though. Not with work, and my parents' death when I was younger. I think they knew they were at risk of dying, they were always on edge and preparing, it just happened sooner than they'd expected. They weren't as focused on celebrating holidays as they were on making sure I wouldn't suffer too much once they were gone."

Pyro was quiet for a few moments, their face buried in Abolish's hair. Then he whispered, "I'm sorry. I know I've said that before, but… I'm still sorry."

"You don't need to be." Abolish tilted its head back to look up at him. "I'm over it, I'm not upset about it at all. It's just a holiday."

"Yeah, but-" Pyro cut himself off with a quiet sigh. "I just want you to be happy."

"Jack, as long as you're happy, I'm happy," Abolish murmured, turning around and wrapping his arms around the taller man. "If you enjoy celebrating, I'll enjoy it too. Besides-" He reached up and kissed their cheek. "-I've honestly been enjoying this. Spending time with you three has been great."

A soft smile spread across Pyro's face, and he pressed a kiss to Abolish's forehead. He nuzzled into its hair again, standing there for a few seconds, before he lifted his head and muttered, "Speaking of those two, we should probably check on them."

Abolish laughed quietly. "Do we really want to?"

Pyro hummed, then grinned a bit and said, "Depends. Maybe they'll let us join them."
