Being friends with Hyunjin is like being friends with a small, tiny animal who constantly clings to you. Being friends with Hyunjin is like having a cat who will sit on you and purr in your ear.
And most importantly, being friends with Hyunjin makes Jeongin feel so, so fucking loved.
Jeongin hasn't gotten out of bed in the last fourteen hours. He feels like shit all of a sudden— or well, he's felt this way for the last month and a half and he has no way to fix it.
He washed his hair four days ago, and normally that would make him freak out to get it done today, but he has no motivation to even bring himself out of bed to walk to the bathroom.
Of course, being roommates and best friends with Hwang Hyunjin, this is something that Hyunjin knows. Hyunjin likes to drape himself over Jeongin and run his hands through Jeongin's hair.
Hyunjin tends to press gentle kisses to the side of Jeongin's head like he's trying to convince Jeongin of hos love. Honestly, it makes Jeongin feel safer than ever when his best friend is around.
Being Jeongin's best friend, Hyunjin obviously knows that Jeongin has depression. He cooks for Jeongin and makes sure he eats normally, including making himself have the same food over and over again because it's all Jeongin can stomach sometimes.
So when Jeongin is going on his fifteenth hour of being in bed, he isn't surprised of Hyunjin opening the door without knocking. He's seen it all with the amount of times he's had to give Jeongin a shower because the younger boy couldn't bring himself to do it without helo.
"Innie." Hyunjin says, slow and careful as he makes his way over to Jeongin's bed. "You have to shower, and then I'm going to feed you. You still want cottage cheese?"
In response to that, Jeongin whines and rolls over so he can look Hyunjin in the eyes. "Mhm..." Jeongin doesn't think he wants to get up right now. Jeongin is so tired.
The smile on Hyunjin's face is soft, almost not even there. "I'm glad you still want to eat. C'mere." Hyunjin knelt down next to Jeongin and put his arms under Jeongin's armpits to lift him up.
Jeongin knows Hyunjin tries to go to the gym to work out his arm muscles just to pick him up. It's one of those small things that make Jeongin want to throw up, because how did he get so lucky with one of the sweetest boys ever as his best friend?
"I am going to put you on the counter." Hyunjin does exactly what he says a moment later, turns the water for their bath on instead of the shower, and goes back to Jeongin's room to find clothes for him to change into.
Jeongin has been through this time and time again. Hyunjin loves him too much to let him rot in his own sadness.
Hyunjin loves Jeongin too much. Jeongin doesn't know how Hyunjin can still stand to look at him when he refuses to even get out of bed to go to the bathroom, but to be fair, Jeongin hadn't been drinking much, so he really didn't have to go to the bathroom to begin with.
When Hyunjin comes back to the bathroom, Jeongin decides to ask him exactly that. Hyunjin flicks Jeongin's forehead. "You're a stupid fox, Innie. How could you ask me how I love my fox enough to take care of him?"
Jeongin rolls his eyes as Hyunjin makes him take off his hoodie and underwear to get him in the bath. "Stop rolling your eyes at me." Hyunjin giggles, "How did I get stuck with such an evil best friend? Evil!"
Was Jeongin evil for that? He didn't think so. He thinks he's very funny actually, thanks.
Every time Hyunjin had to bathe Jeongin, he would make sure to wash Jeongin's hair better than Jeongin ever had. It was sweet, Hyunjin was always so gentle with Jeongin.
Hyunjin loved Jeongin so much, that Jeongin didn't even understand it. Jeongin didn't even think he was that lovable, but Hyunjin proved him wrong each and every time.
Hyunjin washes Jeongin's hair, throws Jeongin the washcloth to wash his own body because he was uncomfortable washing Jeongin that way himself— and to be fair, Jeongin was uncomfortable with Hyunjin doing it as well, so it made sense for the two of them.
Again, they’d done this again and again. Hyunjin loved Jeongin far too much to let him go unclean and starved because Jeongin couldn’t bring himself to take care of himself.
When Jeongin was all rinsed off, Hyunjin picked Jeongin up for the third time and carried him out to their kitchen.
They'll be okay. Jeongin will be okay.
