Notes:

So I don’t really know what I’m doing but I had this idea for a while and just had to write it down.
English is not my first or second language but I felt it needed to be written in that way. Also I’m writing this on my phone because I don’t have a laptop currently so yeah…
If you have any questions, ideas or find mistakes comment below I would appreciate it!

Chapter 1: One

Chapter Text

It was a cold November night, when Selene Harper came to a slow stop at the side of the road just 10 minutes away from home. The soft tune of I’m Alive by Céline Dion playing in the background as her blue VW Golf ll wobbled the last meters along before stopping.

“No no no no no don’t do this again! I just went to the repair shop two weeks ago. I don’t have time or the energy to change a tire at this ungodly hour.“

The woman behind the wheel whined after banging her head once against the steering wheel in frustration. Her curly dark brown hair sprawling across her seat as she leaned back. She grumbled quietly to herself as she searched for the flashlight at in the back of the car.

She stepped out and pulled her dark Green winter coat tighter around herself as she opened the trunk, just to see that the shop forgot to replace her spare tire. “Of course they forgot it, classic Selene the one time you need it it’s not there” she laughed as she shut the trunk with slightly more force than needed.

She checkt her phone only to realise that she has absolutely no signal whatsoever. Just as she was about to open the door and walk home, car lights appeared from behind, a police car pulled over and slowly a man stepped out and walked over. “Everything alright ma’am, do you need help?” The officer asked with a deep smooth voice, he shined his flashlight at her with a questioning look.

Selene turned off the radio and looked over, she was surprised to see a tall man with a moustache.
Charlie Swan she taught, Mr. Sanders told her about him he was the chief of the police department in Forks. Even though she didn’t really like moustaches she thought it looked good on him. She shook her head and said “it’s alright, got a flat tire and the shop forgot to replace the spare tire. I was just about to walk home and change it the next day.” She saw his concerned look and quickly added “ it’s not that far from here no worries officer.”

He took a step back and shaking his head and said with a strong voice “it’s not safe walking around at night in the woods especially not alone. We had a couple of animal attacks lately… is there maybe someone I could call for you to pick you up?” “No not really, I just moved here 3 months ago and the only person that could help is probably asleep and won’t answer the phone at this hour, I just walk home” She said while stepping out of her car and locking the door behind her.

Suddenly the sky opened up above her and rain started to fall softly fall down on them. „Ma’am I would really recommend you not to do that especially since it now started raining, if your comfortable with it I would offer you a ride home” he said while trying and failing to protect himself from the rain and gesturing to the police car. Selene looked up to the sky and agreed she didn’t want to get soaking wet and getting a ride home sounded nice even if it meant sitting in a police car.

They made their way to the car and got in. “So uhm my names Selene Hill I live just south of Paige street it’s kind of down the gravel road and then a sharp right turn”. She said while buckling up, he nodded absently and started driving. After a few moments of silence he spoke softly” I’m Chief Charlie Swan, been the chief here for awhile now, we don’t get new people out here often, what made you come into this rainy place?”

„My aunt friend lives here. Mr.Sanders he owns the funeral home, he is thinking about stepping back and needed someone reliable to take over… so here I am”. “So you’re a Mortician then huh, not really a popular job out there what made you choose it” he said while pulling around a corner. “Well I actually always wanted to become a doctor when I was younger, but while I was in college I’ve just kind of decided to become a mortician it just..felt right for me to go down this road you know?“ she spoke slightly hesitant as the car pulled down her road.

She took the chance to really look at him and study his face in the dim light of the car. She was just about to say something when the car stopped and she realised that they were in front of her cabin. She opened the door and before she stepped out she quietly said“ thanks for the ride I appreciate it, have a safe drive home“. He just smiled and slowly pulled away.

She walked in her house and went directly into her bathroom to get out her damp clothes and into the hot shower. She was glad that it was a Friday night as she realised that it was 0:30am and she could sleep in. Her thoughts driftet to chief swan while she got dressed, when she heard of him she thought he would be a older man the classic cop if you could say that but he surprised her he seemed genuinely interested in what got her interested into forks and offered her a ride even when he didn’t have to.

Before she drifted off she smiled, she wouldn’t mind bumping into him again.
