Summary
Winning the scholarship would be great. Beating Max Verstappen would be better. Not falling for him in the process? …well, that’s the real challenge.
or
I should have know my life would turn into a nightmare the second he walked into the lecture hall. Absolutely insufferable…insufferable handsome. He’s been my academic shadow since forever, always one step ahead, always with that “I’m better than you” look on his face.
Now, of course, we’re both shortlisted for the same master’s scholarship. Because the universe clearly enjoys watching me suffer.
It’s supposed to be simple: work harder, outsmart him, and win. Easy. Except… competing with Max feels less like a race and more like a tug-of-war where the rope is fraying and we’re both pretending we don’t notice. The late nights, the debates, the way he pushes me just enough to make me furious, and, annoyingly, motivated.
I keep telling myself it’s rivalry. Pure, academic rivalry.
But the problem with rivals? Sometimes you can’t decide if you want to beat them or kiss them.
