Underneath the Mistletoe

Summary:

*takes place when they're third years*

Izuku and Ochaco find themselves underneath the mistletoe.

Notes:

I felt like I needed a Christmas oneshot, and a good Izuocha moment, so... This idea was born :)

Work Text:

Izuku and Ochaco were heading back to the dorms. Most everyone else was way ahead of them, so they were practically alone. Izuku was rambling about something, although Uraraka had lost track of whatever it was. But she smiled as Deku went on and on, finding his mumbling to be endearing.

It was pretty common for Ochaco to find herself just watching Izuku. Looking at his focused face while he muttered, meanwhile, as the wind blew through his hair in a mesmerizing pattern. How his emerald eyes shone when talking about heroes and quirks. The four perfect freckles on his left cheek, the scars adorning his body in multiple places. To her, every part of him was perfect.

She shook herself out of the thoughts as she and Izuku approached the door of the dorm building. Izuku opened the door, and they both walked in, stopping to take their shoes off by the door.

“Hey, look who’s under the mistletoe!” Mina’s voice came, and she pointed directly above Izuku and Ochaco.

The two looked up, their faces turning into tomatoes. They looked at each other, neither one moving out from under the small plant. Neither one moving at all.

Until Izuku stepped forward and pulled Ochaco in. She was at first shocked when his lips touched hers, but she soon melted into it and kissed him back.

She’d always imagined what kissing Deku would feel like. But it was so much better in real life than it was in her dreams.

The two pulled apart soon after a camera shutter was heard. They turned to see Mina with her phone out, her face showing both surprise and the happiness she always felt when witnessing moments between her ships.

Izuku and Ochaco become even redder. They went back to taking off their shoes, both their minds racing.

“So… did you put that mistletoe there hoping this would happen?” Kirishima asked his girlfriend from the couch.

“Nope! I don’t know who put that there,” Mina admitted. “I just noticed it this morning.”

“If you didn’t put it there, who did?” Kirishima asked. “I mean, it seems very much in your wheelhouse.”

Asking other people in the class, nobody admitted to the mistletoe hanging in the doorway. Nobody knew who had put it there, simply stating that it was there when they woke up.

Nobody saw as Bakugo smirked to himself in the kitchen as the class tried to figure it out.
