Summary
After a case, Thomas suggests that Juliet teach him something she's good at and she proposes chess. She teaches him fundamentals and finds he's a quick learner... very quick, which impresses her but she still tests him. Thomas realizes how sacred chess really is to her, partly due to Richard. And now, chess becomes a symbol of something more and why teaching him matters so much.
