Chapter Text
My teachers are weird.
They’re constantly at odds, bickering with each other whenever they’re in the same room; but then I’ll see them peacefully sharing lunch in the courtyard, practically thigh to thigh on a bench as Nakajima-sensei blabbers on about something and Akutagawa-sensei listens intently with a certain shine in his eye that only appears around the pale-haired man.
They’re pretty notorious among the student body and staff for their seemingly hostile nature towards each-other, but I feel like there’s something else going on. I practically have a front-row seat to a good chunk of their interactions, given the fact that I’m in both of their classes and the class I’m in during their lunch break overlooks the courtyard.
I wonder when observing the duo turned into a sort of hobby.
My attention is drawn from my thoughts as the classroom door slides open and one of the TAs, Higuchi, peers in.
“Nakajima-sensei?”
The aforementioned man perks up from where he’d been grading last week’s test, “Yes?”
“Akutagawa-sensei wanted me to give you this. He said you forgot it…” she holds up a rectangular object wrapped in patterned cloth with little tiger faces all over it.
It’s obviously his lunch.
The gentle chatter of the classroom becomes near silent as they observe the interaction.
The teacher flushes slightly and gets up from his desk, thanking Higuchi with a slight bow and returning to his rolly chair.
The white noise of the conversing students ensues once more as Nakajima-sensei places his bento into his backpack, though, perhaps, a little more energetic than before.
When class ends, some of the girls compliment him on how cute the wrap for his bento is, while other individuals speculate why Akutagawa-sensei had it in the first place.
Later on, in Kunikida-sensei’s class, I spot the duo on their lunch break as usual, Nakajima-sensei ranting animatedly, shaking Akutagawa’s shoulder before curling over and covering his face with his hands as the other seems to shake with low laughter.
“I can’t believe you did that! Was it really necessary to embarrass me like that?” Atsushi whines, shaking Akutagawa back and forth by the shoulder, “And you have the nerve to laugh at me!”
The raven’s chuckles subside and he brings up his elbow and coughs into it, “I found it to be very necessary.”
Atsushi groans, covering his face and bending forward, “You’re the worst.”
