Chapter Text
July 1989
(Becky Ives' POV)
A knock, soft but persistent, resounded in the humble abode currently occupied by two sisters.
"Coming" Becky answered.
If this happened before, Becky would've just ignored it. But ever since her niece visited five years ago, Becky religiously opened the door even for the occasional girl scouts who come around. She's still hoping for the day that Jane comes back to visit. Becky never saw Jane after she ran away. She wanted to go and find her, but she's scared of the can of worms that she might be opening up if she went to look for Jane. She is everything to Terry now. Her sister would have nowhere to go if something happens to her.
Becky hurriedly opened the door. But the person she saw on the other side was not her niece or a girl scout selling cookies, it was someone she thought was dead for almost two decades now.
"Hello, Becky." the man said softly.
Becky was rendered speechless. The man was older. His rich brown hair is now freckled with gray. His skin is a lot tanner than she remembers. He also seems sicklier than when she last saw him.
"Andrew... How? .... What... Huh?... You're alive?" Becky finally said incredulously.
The man, Andrew, just smiled and asked, "Is Terry here?"
And when he smiled, Becky was reminded of the little girl who once graced her doorstep and looked for her sister.
"She is. Please come in."
