Work Text:

"See you in Hell, sweetheart."

"Don't keep me waiting too long, my dear."

-

'After a decades long reign of terror, the serial killers known as the Cannibal Couple of New Orleans have finally been stopped. They were gunned down during a police chase last night, after they were discovered in their shared cabin dismembering their latest victim.

-

Their last kiss played over and over in Alastor's mind, it was all he could ever think about, to feel those lips again, to hold his husband in his arms just one more time... he'd stop at nothing.

Hell was real apparently, and a lot different than he'd expected. Though whoever was in charge had smiled upon him, because he was powerful. It wasn't noticeable at first, all Alastor had been able to focus on was how his appearance had changed. From his red hair, to his large ears. The two pointed antlers on his head, and long, long legs covered in red and brown fur, ending in hooves. He very much resembled a humanoid version of the deer he so loved to hunt, before he'd met Valentino and they'd set their sights on humans.

He could control radio waves he discovered, communicate through them, broadcast without any of the equipment he'd spent his life collecting. His shadow had a mind of its own, to a certain extent, and it would do his bidding, along with the various other creatures Alastor could summon from the shadows of Hell.

All those things he used to his advantage in his search for Valentino in their afterlife. They were in the same place, that was without a doubt, the younger man might not have been quite as depraved as his lover, but he certainly shared the blame of their deeds. But looking for a single man in this damned Pentagram City was like looking for a needle in a haystack as somebody continued to pile more hay on top. The city seemed to expand ever on, all by itself, accommodating the new souls that dropped into it every day, and no amount of culling Alastor partook in would slow it down.

After all, he wasn't quite killing anyone, they were already down. Alastor didn't have the power of the angels, the only ones truly able to extinguish souls, and they only did that once a year on the cleverly named 'Extermination Day'.

Or so he'd heard.

If demonic souls were to be believed, which Alastor wasn't inclined to do in all honesty. Still, he used the potential Extermination Day as a deadline.

Several months had already passed, and he only had two more to go. He was growing desperate. With each day that passed without Valentino, he felt his sanity slipping. He needed his other half, like a fish needed water, like a husky needed its fur, like maggots needed a corpse.

And then rumours arose of a new Overlord.

A huge moth, ten foot tall, with blue skin, four blackened hands and blood red eyes. He was making his home in the entertainment district, cozying up to another overlord by the name of Vox, and his name was Valentino

Alastor knew that it was his Valentino. Without a shadow of doubt.

Getting close would be an issue. Alastor wasn't a fan of the entertainment district, with all it's neon lights and sex clubs, but it was the exact kind of place he'd expect his husband to take refuge in, and he mentally kicked himself for not focusing his efforts there sooner.

A little murder ought to do the trick, an artfully crafted crime scene.

And by a little murder, he meant a lot of murder. A veritable spree through the heart of the entertainment district.

He'd be lying if he said it wasn't partially motivated by anger, because why had Valentino not been looking for him in the months they'd been down there? He did have a tendency to think of himself first.

Asshole.

Ah, but he couldn't let that ruin their reunion. There'd be plenty of time to chew him out after. The rest of eternity in fact.

"What the fuck are you doing?!"

Ugh. Not him.

"You're not the one I was expecting, where's your friend?" Alastor questioned, tucking his hands behind his back and standing straight. The picture of a perfect gentleman.

Vox glared, crossed his arms, "Why do you want to know? So you can take him out like you've been taking out all those other overlords? No thanks, I'm not in the habit of feeding strays."

Alastor's smile twitched, lips peeling back to reveal bloody teeth and corners stretching impossibly wide, "I actually just want to chat, if you'd be so kind as to give him a call."

"Not going to happen-"

"Oh, Voxxy, don't be so rude. Let me decide for myself if I want to speak to such a devilishly handsome sinner, hmm?"

"Val, he's-"

"The Radio Demon. I'm aware." Valentino smiled with all red teeth, except for one that glinted gold. Exactly the same as it had in life. "You can run along, I'll take care of this."

Vox looked like he wanted to argue, but he tutted, rolled his eyes, "You've got potential, Val, don't get yourself killed by this creep." He disappeared in a burst of blue electricity, a single spark jumping to Alastor's microphone and shocking his hand.

He glared in distaste at the place the demon had once stood.

What a pompous, self obsessed, piece of shit-

"Alastor?"

His name in that oh so familiar voice had him melting, all of his anger fleeing and leaving behind nothing but the overwhelming feeling of relief.

"Valentino..." He responded, barely above a whisper, "You kept me waiting."

At least he had the decency to look sheepish about it. "I, uh... let me explain?"

Alastor gestured vaguely, "Go on."

Valentino took his hands into his own, kissed his knuckles, "When I woke up in this place and realized exactly what it was, I knew I needed power. I figured you'd have the same idea, but I didn't want you protecting me, having to constantly watch my back as well as your own, I wanted to be able to handle myself. And baby I was made for a comfy life." He grinned and struck a pose, winked at the smaller demon.

Alastor missed the warmth of his touch as soon as it was gone, "You couldn't have sent a message somehow?"

"We're together now, right?" Valentino offered, holding out one hand.

"What about that picture box?"

"Nothing's going on, if that's what you're asking." Valentino laughed, "He's useful though, if you can learn to tolerate him."

Alastor hummed.

Grabbed a hold of that glorious mane of fluff to drag Valentino into a kiss.

It was awkward, with the the difference in height and new, sharp teeth, and it was perfect. The home he'd missed. It didn't matter what they had or where they were, as long as they had each other, they would be okay.

Alastor pulled away, though he coudn't go too far, and his eyes sparkled with mischief as he spoke, "It's time to raise a little Hell of our own."
