Vox paced in the dim alley outside the bar. His antennae crackled, electricity snapping into a heart-shaped loop before he noticed and violently forced them straight again.
“Okay,” he muttered, tugging at his tie, “you’ve done worse than ask a demon overlord slash crush for partnership… probably.”
That was a lie. This was the kind of moment that made him vulnerable in front of someone who could see everything and took pleasure in doing so.

Vox wanted to snap back. He wanted to scream that he wasn't a fucking appliance you can just control. He looked into Val’s eyes and remembered the current state he’s in. Right now, he was lucky to even be on this couch.
He’d fucked it all up.
"Fine," Vox muttered, his voice buzzing with a defeated static.

Summary
Where Hazbin Hotel is a show played by multiple actors.
Val is the complete opposite of the pimp he plays on television and is head over heels in love with his coworker who just happens to also play his love interest.
After the show’s first season comes out Vox FINALLY asks him out on a date and for a while, things are perfect.
But there are certain conditions to being an actor for such a hated villain and it only gets worse when fans can’t differentiate between the actor and character.
(Also Angel is Val’s best friend and roommate who watches it all unfurl from the sidelines and is fiercely protective of his friend.)

Summary
Did anyone else think Vox looked like he was having a miserable time in this year's (2026's) Valentine's Day merch drop?
Well, let's just say that Valentino and Velvette have found a new use for their former leader: showing his disembodied head in publicity photos to let all of Hell know that their would-be mass-murderer is neutralized, tamed, and easily marketable and mockable.
Lucky (?) for him, Angel knows all about what it means to be a product.
If you like your StaticDust platonic but with subtle notes of sympathy and romance if you squint a bit, this may be relevant to your interests. If you're not into the other two Vees treating Vox poorly post season 2, it may not be.
Please read the tags and note that while this fic isn't as dark as some of my fics involving Vox's loss of bodily autonomy, loss of bodily autonomy is still very much a part of it.

It felt like his words slapped Alastor in the face. Vox was talking about his company but it awfully felt like it was for Alastor. “I never took you as a coward.” Alastor said. “Running away from it just because you made a mistake?”
Vox smiled. “I’m running away because of the pain. I… Have you ever lost someone or something so close to you that people couldn’t think about you without them too?”
“Yes…” Alastor said, watching him with an unreadable expression.
“Then you know what I’m talking about.”
“No, I don’t… because not once I thought about running away from… him.”
Vox looked like he wanted to ask but never said anything. “Yeah I guess that makes me a coward.”
or
After season 2, Vox erases his memories of Alastor and makes it impossible for them to get triggered but Alastor takes the challange and befriends him again to make him remember. Feelings get involved again…
