Chapter Text
The New Wars
Reborn
A long time ago, a group of Bohandi defied their rules. They went too far with their genetic modifications, removing their second pair of arms, the thing that made them Bohandi, and made themselves transdimensional. They refused to reverse this and fought to keep it against the Empire.
They were defeated, but some of them escaped to another dimension. There, they hid, planned their return and evolved. They began existing in a state where they had no singular individuals, where their minds were mingling and merging with minds of others of their kind, including their own counterparts from alternate timelines. Existing as individuals became unnatural to them.
But, when they returned to take their vengeance on the other Bohandi, these Superbohandi had to become individuals, for the sake of the war effort. When they did so, they took names of human heroes of the past, both to spite the Bohandi, as they were not taking Bohandi names, and to mock the humans, by taking names of their heroes as their own.
One of them, who took the name of Nancy Blackett, had some problems with adapting to her individuality. However, some time after she achieved that, she was captured by the Bohandi. Because she was very cooperative during her interrogation, her captors decided to not kill her and instead attempt to revert her back into being a Bohandi…
Chapter 1
Awakened
She opened her eyes. At first, she could see nothing, as darkness was surrounding her. She tried to move her limbs and discovered that she was strapped to… Wherever she was.
After some time, her eyes got used to the darkness. She noticed that she was in a tube of some sort. She could hear a constant hum around her.
Suddenly, she heard voices speaking somewhere outside the tube.
-She’s awake - a female voice said.
-Neutral readings? - a male voice said.
-Normal - the female voice said. - Her body is working normally. It looks like we did it.
-Admiral Fa’la will be pleased - the male voice said. - But we have to be sure that changes are not purely physical. That her mind works normally too. That she thinks normally.
-Neutral readings show everything’s fine - the female voice said.
-They don’t show everything - the male voice said - But there’s only one way to find out.
She then felt that she was moving and, before long, she emerged from the cube. She soon saw two Bohandi in their yellow environmental suits. They moved toward her and unstrapped her.
-How do you feel, Nancy Blackett? - the male Bohandi said.
-Nancy Blackett? - she said. - Is that me?
-Yes - the male Bohandi said. - We’ve been forced to suppress your memories of your identity during your treatment. They should eventually resurface. Now, how do you feel? Can you move all your limbs?
Nancy moved all her limbs slightly: first arm, second arm, third arm, fourth arm, first leg and second leg.
-Yes, they’re all working fine - Nancy said. - Why am I here?
-It is a long story - the male Bohandi said. - You were once a Superbohandi. One of those who rebelled against us… But I can't really say it was you. Those from whom you were created did. You were captured by us, cooperated well and, in return, we’ve attempted to restore you to the form you are meant to be…
-I was a Superbohandi? - Nancy said. - One of… them?
-Yes - the male Bohandi said. - But you are no more. You may have a normal life now, as one of the Bohandi.
-Will I be released from here? - Nancy said.
-Yes - the male Bohandi said. - As soon as we’re sure the treatment was a complete success.
-And when will that be? - Nancy said.
-You will stay under our observation for two days - the male Bohandi said. - After that, if nothing happens in the meantime, you will be released. You will get your own suit then as well.
-That sounds reasonable - Nancy said.
-For now, put those clothes on - the female Bohandi said and handled her some clothes. Nancy put them on. They were covering all of her except her head and hands, clinging tightly to her body, but they were pretty thin.
-Come with me now - the male Bohandi said. - You will inform Admiral Fa’la about our progress.
The female Bohandi left. The male Bohandi led Nancy out of the treatment room, through some corridors. She was led to a pretty spacious room.
-You may access the public part of our computer system at your discretion - the male Bohandi said. - If you need anything, like food or some entertainment, here is your communication terminal. It has everything listed, so you shouldn’t have any problems. If you want to leave this room, contact one of us. Well, that will be all. Good luck.
And the male Bohandi left, leaving Nancy alone in her assigned room.
