The wind was warm, making the trees branches slowly sway, leaves sometimes pulling away, falling down. Pink petals lay in the vibrant grass of the cliff, that cliff is where Zam sat. She was fiddling with the hem of her shirt, lost in thought. She had made herself a picnic, a soft white and red checkered blanket lay over the grass. A small brown basket filled with a bottle of water and sandwich materials. She had been there for a while, Zam could hear the sounds of gentle water and waves flowing below hitting the base of the cliff. The sunset was quite gorgeous, fading in a gradient of pinks and warm oranges and yellows scattered with beautiful clouds. The colours reflected off the water that stretched far into the distance, the sun on a perfect display above the water.
Zam's gaze drifted up, staring at the sky, she hadn't invited anyone here. This picnic was for herself because places like these calmed her. The cherry tree leaves and petals landing in so many places, all gentle. Everything was so calm, and she liked it that way. She did enjoy her teammates and her friends, she wouldn't mind if they were here with her. But she hadn't invited them, it was so gorgeous, she kinda regretted it. Zam knew they would like it here too, but it was okay. Zam came here to rest herself, because she had been feeling abit down mentally, she had no reason to feel disappointed or guilty. She took a soft breath in, letting a sigh out as she shifted her sitting position slightly.
Zam was zoning out abit as she stared into the distance, but she heard footsteps, the crack of a stick beneath a boot. She wasn't wearing armour and on lifesteal that was commonly dangerous. She leaned back, turning her head around to look behind her. She was sat in a clearing of area from cherry trees and bushes, a movement rustled as a figure stumbled out. Zam had gotten abit tense at the sudden knowledge of another person, but her muscles calmed very swiftly seeing a familiar face. Poafa seemed to almost fall as he pushed away from a bush that got caught on his pant leg, stabilizing himself before awkwardly dusting himself off. It earned a gentle quiet giggle from Zam, making Poafa turn his head to the side slightly embarrassed. Poafa did finally speak up though
"Hey- Zam, I was walking around here and I saw you through some branches so I thought maybe, I could join you? If that's okay with you of course.." Poafa muttered slightly at the end of his sentence. Zam's blank expression had changed to a soft smile playing on her lips, amused and also happy to see her teammate. Zam immediately gave a small nod, turning her head back to the sunset as Poafa took a few steps. Sitting next to Zam and settling with his legs crossed. Poafa's gaze flickered out to the sunset, which still held strong with its beauty. This time, Zam's voice rang out, her voice gentle and warm.
"You were just out here? Sure you weren't stalking me?" She snickered, giggling amusement clear in her tone as she joked. Poafa chuckled too, glancing over towards Zam as he spoke up. "Well yknow dude, great minds think alike!" Poafa bit back a laugh as he reached up a hand, tapping the side of his head jokingly earning a laugh from Zam. Poafa looked full of himself, that smartass smile playing on his face like always. Zam didn't care much about how Poafa actually got there, but oh she was happy her teammate was here. He always made her laugh, smile, he was a good friend. Zam piped up when she was done giggling at Poafa's dumb jokes. "The sunset is gorgeous." She sighed, her gaze flickering back up to the clouds. "The clouds always remind me of you y'know?" She reminded, and she was telling the truth. It made Poafa smile, staring at the same clouds Zam was. Silence wavered between them for a moment before Poafa spoke, his voice much softer. "And the sun reminds me of you." Zam felt warmth in her chest, god she loved her friends so much. She enjoyed being around them, she enjoyed hearing their voices. And her friends were her teammates, yes people always said you aren't supposed to pick favorites. But Poafa fit his roles so well, he worked hard, he cared about Zam and their team alot.
Zam turned her head to Poafa, shifting her position, scooting closer to him. Zam reached a hand out, making Poafa notice and give a smile as he took her hand. Zam pulled him closer into a hug, resting her chin on Poafa's shoulder. Poafa smiled, relaxed into the touch as he moved his thumb in small circles on Zam's back. Poafa's voice was quiet, as to not disturb her as she rested by leaning into him. "you alright?" Zam hadn't been feeling the best, but with someone like Poafa she felt fine, atleast right now she did. Zam gave a small nod, pulling back from the hug slightly to face Poafa. "Do you mind if i lay down-?" Zam received a gentle nod from Poafa, she pulled away from the hug, facing her body towards the sunset as she lay down. Resting her head in Poafa's lap as comfortable silence rested between them. The sun was going down more and more, as a dark purple rested far above them small white stars flickered into that space of colour.
Poafa's fingers gently threaded through Zam's long blonde hair, shining under the sunset into a vibrant gold, her hair was soft. Cleaned recently, Zam relaxed into Poafa's comforting touch. Her eyes felt heavy as they flickered close, sleepiness overtaking her mind. The night went on, Poafa's hands and fingers still ran through her hair, calming her to sleep. The night drifted on, the night slowly filling the sky. More stars twinkling throughout the sky as the moon slowly replaced the sun until Poafa carefully put his hands underneath Zam, lifting her off his lap and gently setting her down so as to not wake her up. Poafa adjusted his position, lowering himself next to Zam. Laying down himself his chest against Zam's back, wrapping an arm under her. Poafa's eyes fell closed as he tilted his head closer to Zam as sleep overtook him also.
