"What are you doing?"
I casually asked a little girl in the moonlight. Staring at her still figure gazing at the sky. After a while I heard a sweet yet broken voice come out of her.
"Watching the moon."
Watching... The moon? Why would a child be watching something as boring as that? The moon is a creation of the universe made by space dust. It's just a circular shaped stone floating in the universe so called 'Space'.
Named, of course, by the humans. Confused by her response, a question flew out of me.
"Why?".
"Helps me think."
"About?"
"Love."
... Love? I'm incapable of understanding the human brain.
"And why are you thinking about such a complex feeling?"
"Sometimes, humans get their heart broken because of the cruel thing called love. They say it's beautiful even when it's tearing them apart. People have loved ones and 'soulmates', but that could be anyone.
Love comes and goes. One day they're cheerful with the love of their life, and in a second it's all gone.
The best day of your life can be with that one person you love, but that one person can make a simple day, the worst memory you have of them.
Love is scary, terrifying and miserable. So how come people still think it's gorgeous? How come, people still love? Are they not afraid of what's awaiting for them in the future? Why do some people love one person, but another group might hate them?...
Maybe I don't get love to a person, but I understand love to the moon, the stars, the sky, the air and everything around us. You might see it everywhere, and think it's ordinary, but what makes it special, is the way you look at it. The moon is just a big stone in the sky. But focus on the shape, on it's origin, on it's rarity, focus on it's meaning of life."
Finally shifting her gaze from the moon to the thing staring at her.
A little girl who spoke smart words indeed.
"Why humans love, is also a question I would like answered. I like your thinking kid. We're two different creatures, who might not be so different at all."
